A few people were asking if Saturdays win was a record win.
The record books rightly say our record win was on 18th October 1941 when we beat Handley Page 13-1 away (we also beat them 9-1 at home that season) but that was war time football when teams were hastily put together. Handley Page were aircraft manufacturers so were probably busy that year!
But as far as Peace time League matches go Saturday equaled our biggest post war win
In 46/47 we beat Aylesbury at home 9-1
55/56 Welwyn Garden City home 8-0
63/64 Histon H 9-0
63/64 Tilbury H 9-2
64-65 Dorking H 9-1
Pre war we won 9-0 in consecutive homes v Marlow Res & Aylesbury Res in 38-39.
