League rules state that if a team has fewer than 13 available registered players then the game will be called off.
Hendon's past three matches have been postponed because, with 9 players testing positive for COVID, a further two having to self-isolate due to Government rules and four others long-term injured, we had just 7 available players - including no goalkeeper - for our games against Swindon, Gosport and Yate. In addition, we have no physio or manager available.
I can assure you that the league require an awful lot of evidence and proof of positive tests and / or players not being available before they're willing to call a game off. I spent six hours yesterday compiling evidence for the league and nine last Friday - it was bloody exhausting.
Thankfully, all of those that tested positive will be out of isolation early next week and with luck, our festive fixture can go ahead.
