A very strange game. Walton by far the better side first half. We had no answer to their play and Tristan Vernal who looked very good against Totton, just couldn’t get close to their striker. They probably should have been about 5-0 up by the time we got our penalty on the stroke of half time. In fairness, Talla hit the penalty very well, it was an extremely good save by their keeper.

Cameron and Kandolo came on at half time and to be honest, I’m surprised those subs weren’t made sooner, with us really struggling at the back. They were clearly good subs as the opening 10 minutes of the second half was an onslaught from Boro. We could have scored 5 goals ourselves in that period. We kept pressing and got our reward through Mitchell again. 3 in 3 from the former chelsea man. We had some other chances too but Kandolo then gave a (soft) penalty away in the 89th. He then misplaced a pass for the fourth goal in stoppage time. It was a shame as he had done well up until then and 2-1 would have been close enough. 4-1 feels like a bit of a drubbing, but in fairness we gave it a real go.

This team will hopefully keep improving but Jordan can’t let them get down about not having a win yet. There’s some real positive signs. On another night we would have won that 3-2.

In other positive news, George Moore was spotted in the stands. Despite the result, hopefully the performance was encouraging to him, in that it might sway him to think about rejoining the club (if that is even a slight possibility).

On to Basingstoke we go.
