End of season thoughts
Views: 2924
So after todays 0-0 draw we finished in 15th place with 45 points. I'm not sure if it's better or worse than last season. We finished two place higher this season but with two points less. From a purely positional point of view I probably would have taken a 15th place finish simply because we are always perennial strugglers. I'm looking at the league table on the Margate website assuming it's correct then our away form was very poor. Not only was our away record the joint second worst in the division we only scored 15 goals away the whole season which is joint worst. We made up for it though by scoring a hatful at home, the fourth highest in the whole division just a shame we shipped in just as many!
So for me on the whole an acceptable season but I was only able to make it to one game this season so can't really judge it properly. I should imagine some of you will be disapointed with the season somewhat and would have expected more.

I know some are disappointed, especially with the promise of a new coach improving things. home form seemed better than last season, although unsure if that is actually the case. spine of the team needs improving, a centre back, bullish central midfielder and a quality finisher. hopefully akinola can double his goal tally next season.
We finished above 7 teams. Although it would be naïve to say we should beat them all, out of the 14 games played against those who finished below us, we only won 3. They were Thurrock on the opening day, Carshalton in September and Enfield at home this month. We then only managed a draw at home to Cray and away to Lewes. We lost the other 9. 11 points out of 42 against those below us. That is really bad. If we can start to beat these teams, not only does it push us higher, but keeps those below us further away to ease relegation worries.

Spot on Danny , The real dissapointment this season was some very poor defeats to other sides in the bottom half . After similar defeats during the run in last season we should have been prepared to battle a bit more in those fixtures, but it didnt happen. The pluses are Akinola will continue to improve , Shaun Lucian ws a very good signing & Michael Peacock after not looking a suitable replacement for Wayne Walters in the first two months of the season has matured into a very good a centre back.
Roll on next season , An improved Cup run & unbeaten against the four relegated teams !!

Lucien has been a very good signing. Think along with Ofusu Hene they have added to the team going forward. Jordan Berry also had an impact. Hard to say what the team will be like going forward as we all know the squad will probably change significantly.
