So what has changed?

, a lot less than most people would have anticipated. At first glace looking at the personnel that is true, but the formation and style of play are totally different.

Baker’s first game featured no new players at all. That is, not new to the club. Kameron English & David Taylor both made their full league debuts for the club that day. That in its self is strange as they had both been with us for a while.
The problem right back position initially become worse as Danny Dyer limped out of that first match, but by the 2nd game Josh Webb had been recruited making the number 2 shirt his own. We have played 4-4-2 right from the off. The ever reliable Michael Peacock was soon reunited with Anthony Page who was released by the previous manager at the centre of defence. While George McCluskey was looking a more complete full back with every game. Both Full backs have contributed in an attacking way that was non-existent before. Combining their duties with the midfield player ahead of them & improving our defensive record as well.

In midfield Michael Bryan appeared reenergised from that very first game, now taking players on and looking to create chances rather than just keep possession. In the engine room at the centre of Midfield Ryan Hope has totally thrown himself into the new set up alongside new recruit Spencer McCall whose control & passing has undone almost every team we have played.

All this behind the outstanding contributor to Boro’s survival, Lewis Driver. Lewis’s commitment & work rate rubbed off on everyone, alongside Mark Charles-Smith we were now making opposition goalkeepers work very hard. Something that was far from the case in the first six months of the season.

Ben Long returned from injury & David Taylor played in a various positions as required. Other new recruits Dan Moody & Will Turl contributed from the bench, but with a very settled side the revolving door stopped the moment Dave Anderson went out through it . Taking with him his negative style of play & insults at the match officials.

We not only climbed up the league table but progressed in all three cups that we were still in. losing a pulsating London Senior Cup Semi Final & reaching the Final of both Middlesex Cups.

Agree with all your comments. The return of Page seems to have really helped. He has a bit of a no nonsense approach. Doubt however if he would have come back had not Anthony Massiat been injured. Mass is a great player - a real pity he struggles so much with injury. Also think Marc Charles Smith has been an excellent captain . This group of players now has the ability to finish in a play off position next season - only hope the manager can keep them together.
