Went to Hayes this evening to see Boro in their latest friendly. First time ive been to their newish ground.
Didn't recognize most of the team but surprisingly (imo) it was a very competitive match with no quarter given , which must have been useful for the management team. A well taken goal by Banja separating the sides.
Both teams in the second half should have scored and something like 2-2 or 3-3 would probably been a fair result. Hayes hitting the post near the end.
Nice to catch up and chat with plenty of Boro fans I hadn't seen seen since April which I guess is somtimes what these friendly s are all about.
Have a good one those going to the Cardiff game.

This was a much better match than any usual friendly.
Both teams were up for it. Boro were the better side in the first half & well worth the lead. Our attacking moves broke down easily after the HT substitutions , but gave us a chance to prove we can defend & although Hayes hit the post, just one very good goalkeeping save was required to see out a win.
Having Mark McLoed back in midfield makes such a difference, wins tackles & passes to feet, Class player.
