A comprehensive win here for Harrow , goals from Moss, O'Connor , Kearney and an o.g. getting all 3 points.
First half Boro came flying out the blocks and controlled the half, playing some good football, comfortable at HT , 3 nil up.
2nd half Town played a lot better, scored and put Harrow under pressure, but we stood firm, their goalie was sent off , dont know what for, and we added the 4th and we ran out deserved winners. Well done Boro.
The team/squad look settled to me and are playing well. FA trophy next week, keep it up.

Absolutely delighted with the start we've made in our new league. Scoring goals for fun. For those that go to the games, is the standard of the league lower than what we were used to in the Isthmian or is it our team that has improved? Perhaps a bit of both?

Yes I'd be interested in what other fans think as well Cappers.
My view for what it's worth is yes, we are playing a lot better at the moment, building on the great finish we had at the end of last season.
The squad/team look as though they're all playing for each other as well as putting in good individual performances and the new additions have fitted in well. Of course at times we have rode our luck when u need to and no doubt injuries will happen and form will dip. But at the moment we are where we are on merit.
Also I never thought we would replace Melvin Minter with an equally good keeper, Al Droubi. He's played really well so far.
I suspect that overall the Isthmian is the stronger league but then again we haven't played all the clubs in this league yet.
Also we're actually playing some good football, passing the ball really we at times, its not kick and rush. It will be interesting to see if we can play as well when the pitches start to get worse as we go into winter.
Its exciting football at the moment and it's is a long season, but so far so good.
Long may it continue.

With the re-structuring of the leagues and the creation of a Southern Midlands division, there is no doubt that both the Southern and Isthmian leagues are significantly weaker now than in previous seasons. Eg. the Southern Premier has lost Hereford, King's Lynn, Slough , Kettering, Banbury and Hitchin, all 'bigger' clubs with strong fan bases (= money !).

True, the promotion of Taunton & Salisbury partly balances the losses but overall the division is weaker - but probably more competitive. The lower divisions of Southern and Isthmian are also weaker with the elevation of a number of 'small' clubs who may struggle financially on their small attendances.

None of this detracts from the excellent start H.B. have made to their season - and they, along with Hendon and possibly even Beaconsfield, the surprise team of the season so far, may all have a chance of making it to the playoffs.
My guess is they would have stood the same chance this season in the Isthmian too.

Harrow are playing exciting football with goals at both ends so it is disappointing to see crowds not growing at Earlsmead.
After their much improved performance yesterday, I still believe Chesham under their new management and with just a few new players, could go on a long winning run and could even also make the playoffs.
Unfortunately it probably won't start next week in the FA Trophy !

Good luck at Biggleswade - they may be unbeaten but they don't always win at home and they rarely score 2 goals !
A replay would be a good result for H.B. and is certainly achievable.

Agree with the others, neither the Southern or Isthmian leagues are as strong this season. Last season Dulwich & Billericay were much stronger than any sides this season, I think this seasons 1st to 8th is the equivalent to last seasons 3rd to 10th , but at the bottom of the division I think there are a number of clubs that would only be the same level as Burgess Hill & Tooting or lower from lat year. Farnborough are dropping like a stone too. Every side was competitive last year, Chesham & Staines have started way off the pace & a few others have taken heavy defeats. So avoiding the relegation places SHOULD be easier than last seasons one relegation spot.

This is something we've talked about a lot at Hendon this season, I personally don't think the Southern League South is as strong or competitive as last season's Isthmian by quite a distance. Of course, as has been alluded to further above in the thread, the quality has been diluted somewhat by the extra division and so many clubs coming up from Step 4, yet having watched a couple of Bostik League games when Hendon haven't been playing, I certainly don't think we'd be top 5 in that division.

Indeed, whether we remain top 5 in the Southern remains to be seen - we are a long way off where we were from last season right throughout the pitch, yet having lost the management, 95% of the squad and having to start from scratch in pre-season, we're certainly enjoying the ride (and lovely new awaydays!) more than we expected to.

Interestingly Taunton managed a 2-2 draw at Billericay yesterday in the FA Cup. They managed this despite missing a penalty and having a man sent off with 25 mins to go. Met Police won their tie as well against higher opposition. Am sitting on the fence as to whether this league is weaker than the one we have been used to. It is certainly a very competitive league that is for sure. Very enjoyable visiting new grounds as well.

The standard of football might not be as good in this league but personally I find the games far more entertaining than last year. Players , officials and supporters are there to enjoy their football, not like the win at all costs attitude of the Essex and Kent teams.
