Boro 1 Welling 3

We are out of The London Senior Cup to a near full strength Welling side and they took their 3 goals very well.2 in the first and and another just after half time.We got a consolation through Anthony O' Connor and the guys gave it a good go being that it was a team selection with one eye on Saturdays game at Merthyr. We had 2 great chances so on another day it could have been 3-3! But Welling were the better team and deserved to win.But the big news l suppose was Kings Langley blowing a chance to go above us with a 2-1 home defeat to Met Police.Fantastico! As l predicted now the heat is on theyve fluffed a big chance there. So we are still 6th and lm still backing to finish in 5th lm sure our players have got the bottle for it unlike Poole and Kings Langley. So we cant do the treble but the double of Middlesex Senior Cup and Promotion is there for the taking! So Come On You Reds!

I spoke to a couple of Welling supporters at HT & they said they were playing their strongest available team. It showed, they are a good side but we were not outplayed by any means. At 1-0 we were on the front foot & also had an attack with a man over but lost possession & Welling counter attacked scoring a very classy goal.
I think it will prove to have been a goos preparation for the next couple of matches. (hopefully for both teams, as they play Wealdstone on Saturday!)

Yes agreed Middlesex Wanderer there finishing was clinical and lm glad Welling treated the Competition with the respect it deserves by playing a strong team.On another night it may have been 3-3 as we missed two great chances. But with Kings Langley Losing we are still in a very strong posistion in the play off race and lm very confident we shall get that 5th place.Come On You Reds!

Our lads gave a good account of themselves but a harsh reminder that we would not survive playing at that level every week. We just could not match their movement off the ball.

I agree they gave a good account of themselves, but I do inot agree we could not survive at that level. This was the team in third place. In our 39 years in the Isthmian premier, I would suggest in about 30 of them we were a long way short of the quality of the the side in 3rd place, but held our own against most sides.

You cannot compare the old Isthmian with the current National South. The lowest playing budgets are at least triple ours and some clubs are full time.
On the ground grading side the authorities seem to take a lenient view these days., half the grounds we have visited this year do not comply with current regulations.

Yes agreed Fixtures Direct but it was a mix and match side with obviously Merthyr the big priority. On another night it could have been 3-3 we missed two easy chances.lm sure when we get promoted we will adapt ok we will get closer in midfield and of get stuck in especially when we play Wealdstone. We will battle every game and do just fine!
