My Day At Northwood!
My thoughts were with Boro but l just Couldnt Bring Myself to watch such an Obvious Mismatch.
I went to Northwood v Marlow in Bostik League1 which is Step 4! Similiar Standard to Boro.
I was Looking to see if anyone could do a Long throw as No one at Boro can!
Like London Buses 2 Came Along in the same match.
Calam Gallimore for Marlow was Impressive a Fantastic Long throw and l was told a Utility player at the Back or can Dig at Bit in Midfield.Very Good Postional Sense.
Trey Charles For Northwood again can throw it Long too but very Talented Wide player who scored a Goal.Good Crosses and Good control of the ball.An ability to take players on too.
Marlow were so worried about him even when they were down to 10 men after a player sent off they had 2 marking him every time he got the ball.
Trey has Obvious Talent and would be a Good Addition to our Team.Far better crosser than Bryan or Cole.
The Other Northwood player l was impressed was Zaied Sabti.
Tough to Knock of the ball good give an go passer and kept making good forward runs from midfield.Seemed to have a bit of a spark about him.
The kind of player you would want in a pressure game not Likely to go misssing.l believe Boro should Look at those 3 Players l mentioned Seriously.
The only disappointing thing Northwood Losing 2-1 but a very enjoyable day at Beautiful Chestnut Avenue!

Zaied Sabti was a Boro player for the first 3 months of the season . He did ok for the under 23s but clearly not on par with our current midfield.
Marlow team team also featured at least 3 ex Boro players that would not get in the current team either.
I think the idea that Marlow or Northwood are similar standard is stretching it . There are 7 leagues at the level below now & Northwood are mid table at best so an awful lot if teams between us & them.

Im sorry l cant agree. What l saw today Zaied is far stronger on the ball than Bryan or Cole.
If the current management at Boro couldnt have seen that then that tells you a Lot about their judgement. In their view lm supposing he would play too direct and not play those10yrd square balls that go nowhere. Unless you have the ball you cant score goals!
And yet l saw 2 players today who no doubt through Practice and Hard work can throw a ball Long!
Yet they can do this a Step 4 yet no one can do it for us at Step3! Me Thinks A Lack Of Hard Work At Training!
I think keep it Simple Forget Levels its about who Wants to Win.In Those 4 games l mentioned in my earlier article was there honestly a win at all costs attitude.I Think Not.4 games NiL Points! Who wants to Practice Hard enough and whose got the bottle for the Big Matches.A number of the current team dont have those qualities l believe.
Not matches Like today which are a total farce and in truth the League shouldnt sanction.

We all like to have our opinion during a game re tactics, formations or decisions & that is all a part of a match day. To continue to suggest that the players do not try hard enough in training or matches is totally unfair & probably wrong.
The reason the likes of Zaied Sabti do not get near our first team is because the are probably not quite good enough or not fit enough. Our management make human mistakes, but not for trying.
The team spirit at Boro is excellent. The squad will always evolve but whole sale changes can always backfire.

Im not often struggling for words as people who see me on halfway will justify.
But this one has got me.
Not including todays farcical match which surely the goals from cant be taken seriously.
Zaied Sabti may not be quite good enough well in Boros view well this a conundrum.
Hes scored 6 goals for Northwood in 3 months and l venture that Bryan and Cole havent scored that between them this season.
Im sorry a very bad error of judgement there.
If me as an average fan can see you must have players who are strong on the ball and yet Cole and Bryan are thought better options well lm Lost for Words!

I fully respect your opinion Middlesex Wanderer.
But come on its a number of fans near where l stand who are in the main stand say the same thing.
Players struggling to control the ball.
Players endlessly overhitting crosses.
No obvious game plans for free kicks.l mention again v Frome a free kick on half way you need to hit the area.
Its played short 8 passes in our own half back to our keeper.
That must be a coaching issue.lm sorry thats the truth.
No one can do a Long Throw why?
I saw 2 Level 4 players do it today. How come we cant.
Is it a Lack of practice.l think so.
If there was a Hard Work culture during training you wouldnt keep seeing such obvious mistakes during matches and also watching the Subs "practice" at Half time v Wimbourne the ball being hit high and wide over the goal and its all a Laugh and a Joke. Why didnt the coach give them written instructions on things to work on for example 10yrd passes and crosses areas where work is needed on. If what l saw at half time against Wimbourne is what is replicated in training where its all a Laugh and a jolly lm sorry thats simply not good enough.
All practice should be done with effort and determination yes a few smiles fine but effort comes first.
Also unable to beat first man at corners or corners being overhit thats another example where you must put the work in training and practice hard.
Maybe things are too cosy.
The Likes of Zaied not getting a game maybe tells you a Lot unless you can do clever flicks etc or play the slow build up way you wont get a go.
Im putting this out on the forum because yes we have had a good season but we need to do the next Level.
No wholesale changes but Bryan Cole Duoubi and Moss Out and Lets find a Leader aka Wayne Walters who can shake his fist and demand more in the games that really matter unlike today.

I remember Sabti at the beginning of the season, think he was plagued by an injury and then never really got into the first team. A shame really as he had some good statistics from his time at Wembley. A good technical player no doubt.
However we must remember a club of our size is unlikely to carry lots of players. If young, hungry players want to play and Boro don't want them to go, we would have to give them a contract. That for us would be unusual and probably very costly. So when players want to go because of game time and the team can't give it to them, they will. Most of the time on 7 day approaches or dual registrations and they move on.
There was also Ahmed Elsahib who wasn't bad who signed from Kodak of Middx County division 1. Bajram Pashaj too who was signed from lower leagues but got injured and never worked his way back into the team but played for Beaconsfield against us this season. Bitmead, Andrew, Holland and Ireland all came from lower leagues this season. The team does look for players at that level that can come in and compete so no doubt there were some useful players at Northwood v Marlow but credit to the management this season. A very good season.

Yes a very good season.
Im hopefully given constructive critism that not just me but a number of fans are saying.
Theres no doubt that Sabti and Trey Charles both of Northwood are better than Cole and Bryan.Easily.
Im glad Boro Scout for players but more important needs to be radical Overhaul of how we play in my view.
Far more direct.Far more aggressive.Urgent need for a Leader and far more important a Fierce Determination to win something the coaching brigade with the notebooks cant teach Harrowred.

If Michael Bryan is so awful - why has he been playing Step 3 football for the best part of 10 years? He must be doing something right.

Micheal Bryan He has scored 1 goal all season.Cant cross a ball consistantly. Cant take a free kick well.Too easily beaten for the ball and cant keep the ball.He does some passes well though
Hes a top fella l chatted with him at Hartley Whitney but just on football grounds he doesnt do enough in my opinion.
I know other fans rate him.
But l would release him in the Summer.

Sorry Whispering theres nothing in it.
I saw 2 Step 4 players do a Long throw on Monday yet no one at Boro can do it.
Zaeid far tougher and harder than Bryan or Cole and yet we considered him not good enough.
Big error of judgement.
Micheal Bryan 2 Goals all season lm sorry just Woeful and not good enough.

Are long throws really that useful? We have two long throw specialists at Hendon, but I'm not sure we've actually scored anything from them.

Very useful Long throws.
Of course you need brave players prepared to take a kick sometimes.
Someone Like Wayne Walters Hard and Tough unlike some of the players of today.

Sorry Tel, I totally agree with your opinion of Michael Bryan, turns on the ball way too much and always jumps out of tackles. He has played for Watford in the Championship, however those days are clearly behind him. Lewis Cole I must disagree with, he would run through a brick wall for the team. He almost does Bryans running for him when they play in there together.

Hello Herald lm sorry for the delay in replying as l have been off the forum for a while!
Micheal Bryan and Lewis Cole are gifted players but in the games that mattered against Frome Wimbourne Chesham they werent at the races.
The problem with them is they are not strong enough on the ball.
Too easily knocked of the ball always Looking to the ref for a foul.
Thats no good.Without the ball in midfield you cant control or win matches in my view.
The fans have just made Micheal Bryan player of the year so they might be right and me wrong!
