Harrow's history on club website
Views: 1158
Have enjoyed reading about the club's history as revealed day by day on the club website.
Wonder if we will be out of lock down by the time we get to the year 2020 !

I must admit Middx I'm surprised at the various kits the "lads" are wearing in the team photos for the first 5 years.
Must say I rather like that hooped one . . . . .

According to the Spartan league handbook at the time. We wore Red & White hooped shirts with Blue Knickers
In the late 50's & early 60's we wore Red & Black stripes.
I am sure Town Colours is our man to confirm, but I think it was a popular choice back then..

Hi.
I can confirm that the team wore red and white striped shorts and black shorts. I was a regular supporter in those days and saw a few away matches as well. I believe that my father managed to get us on the team coach as well, which was supplied by Whitefriars. How's that for a memory!!!

Hi. I was interested to see Dennis Russell's name in the 1939/40 squad for the history feature. He later played for Arsenal and had his picture in the old clubhouse. I don't know if he ever played in the first team. I believe he lived in Arundel Drive.

Denis Russell played for Harrow from the late 30's until the early 50's he remained in various roles at the club for many years His company 'Denis Russell Travel" was the sponsor on our shirts when we won the league in 1984.
He did play for Arsenal, as an Amateur I believe, I have a copy of that photo.. ( I dont know how to post it on here)
I can send it to you if you email [email protected]

As I age my memory fades. However I believe shirts were red and white with black shorts. I may be wrong of course Middlesex Wander. Don't ask about sock colour. Would be great if one day we could revert to those colours again -even if for one year just to celebrate an anniversary. Maybe in a few years time to celebrate Harrow Town finishing second on goal difference despite beating the eventual winners 9-3 at home. That season was 1963-64.

Hi. Another name I recognise from the latest History Of The Club feature was Kenny Gee - also a regular member on the social. I remember him beating me in the club snooker tournament. Tony

Tomorrow being the anniversary of VE day . Its appropriate that we should be on 1944/45 of the club history. with the article tomorrow is a link to some war time memories of Kenny Gee. I never saw him play but got know him well in his latter years.
