I Think HarrowRed Has Summed Things Up Very Well In His Report On The Match At Earlsmead This Afternoon.
We Must Say Well Played To Yate Town And Wish Them a Good Trip Back To Near Bristol.
Some Points I Will Add.
The Effort And Commitment Was Good Mostly But Basic Errors Which Need Addressing.
When The Ball Is In A Wide Area Take One Touch And Get It In The Box.
Far Too Many Touches And Short Passes That Lead To Nowhere We Saw Today.
When You Have The First Corner Of Any Match Challenge The Keeper Robustly For The Ball.
What We Saw Today Was Not Good Enough.
From Our First Corner The Yate Keeper Catches The Ball Unchallenged
That’s Not Good Enough At Any Level Of The Game.
The Idea Is To Put Doubt Into His Mind With A Tough Challenge.
The 2 Crosses That He Had To Deal With Was One Resulting In A Goal And The Other He Spilled.
From Any Kick Off l Would Recommend We Hit The Ball Towards The Opposition Corner Flag And Play Territory.
You Look At The Penalty They Got We Have Lost The Ball In a Bad Area From The Kick Off 2nd Half Leading To A Throw And Foul In Box For A Pen Which Damian Las Brilliantly Saved.
As HarrowRed Said The First Goal David Taylor Just Needs To Clear And Not Take A Touch First That’s Basic Defending.
Believe Or Not Football Is Not A Complicated Game Keep Things Simple And Do The Basics Well And You Will Win Matches.
Good To See George Moore Doing A Long Throw And David Taylor Showing Bravery For The Equaliser!
So I Would Say 7/10 Overall and Imran Uche Man Of The Match
Had a Solid Game At Centre Half
Come On You Reds!!!

Official report brings up the points we have all made.
Too small, no creativity and not much fight.

Interesting that Dan Lincoln has effectively broken his contract. Wonder if all bridges are burnt there or he has an opportunity still once the cricket season is over? I thought Las did well in any case.
Tricker sounds like he’s nearly over his Covid ordeal but less clear on Wynter.
SB tweeted about a player leaving without telling him and playing for someone else. Wonder if that could have been Jordan Ireland.

You can't blame Lincoln for trying to extend his professional cricket career.
Obviously it's a pain for Borough but it was always a possibility.
I saw the SB tweet this morning. It won't be Ireland as his departure was acknowledged in the managers notes in Saturday's programme which were written before Thursday.
Wonder who it was?
Didn't there used to be a 7 day approach rule for platyers already registered with a club?
Agree that the American keeper did well.
If he stays for a while he'll certainly get the opportunity to enhance his skills.

I didn’t get a programme on Saturday so thanks for that. There always was a 7 day approach rule but perhaps some forms hadn’t even been signed for Boro for a team to need to do that.
Potential players it could have been would be; Frankie Taylor although he didn’t appear to play in the most recent friendlies, Andy Ali, Sam Gubbins. Not sure who else. MCS and Preddie were both in attendance on Saturday.

We battled and defended set pieces well. However I thought we were too slow on the build up! P.s I'm sure it was James Mansfield that gave the ball away for the first goal? But we move on to next tuesday against Hartley Whitney which is now a massive game!!

Yes it was Mansfield. We weren’t outplayed today, for a bit of a put together team, lacking a few key qualities we were unfortunate.

I agree with the majority of your report Terry. Our tallest players were our 3 centre backs. We should have tried to utilise that strength when we had corners and free kicks. They did very well defending corners and long throws which was good to see.
I would normally agree about the wingers getting the ball into the box but today our strikers were very small and I don’t think it would have helped. Appreciate the wingers taking too long and making short passes also was to no effect today.
I think we need a big strong central midfielder, direct quick winger and another bigger option upfront.

Yes Agreed Harrow Red.
I’ve Just Said In My Reply To The Major That Needs Addressing.
I Think We Try And Play Too Much Football When Just By Playing a Direct Game With The Right Gameplan and Players Matches Are There To Be Won.
But The Sun Shone And It Was An Entertaining Game!!!
