The Team A Surprise!

Obviously Shaun Preddie Not Playing Is A Blow But Playing James Taylor In Midfield Instead Of Frank Keita To Me Was A Shock!
As I’m Writing This We Are 3 Down!!!

James Taylor didnt play in midfield.
We played 3 centre backs & wing backs.
I thought we played well in the first half & unfortunate to be a goal down. Then in the 2nd half as on Tuesday Chesham were by far the better side.
We really missed Donnellan .
Keita has not been in any kind of form for a few weeks & it was no surprise he didnt start. I would say we started with our strongest available side but on the day just not good enough.

Thanks For Your Views Alan Middlesex Wanderer.
Give Me 4-4-2 Any Day And Always Play Your Best Players.
The Old Adage “Form Is Temporary But Class Is Permanent” Springs To Mind With Frank And If Fit He Would Always Be In My Starting 11.
With Just 1 Point From A Possible 12 We Need To Get Back To Basics Starting With Tiverton On Tuesday.
1st Objective Clean Sheet!
2nd Objective Score A Goal!
That Would Be A 1-0 Win To Get Things Rolling Again And Keep In Touch With The Playoffs!

It would have been rude of Chesham not to have won this game comfortably, given the space they were allowed on counter attacks and the fact that their keeper hardly had a shot to save all afternoon.
The game was played in steady rain and, after an even first half, it was a credit to the fitness of both teams that the pace didn't drop throughout the 90 minutes.
I believe there are few exceptional teams in the league this season. Chesham should make the playoffs but Harrow's inconsistency is a problem which will probably leave them in the Southern League again next season. That may please some people. The question would be, on Harrow's very attendances, could they afford National League South ?
Somehow, they need to involve the community in the Club.

Cheers Gee-Mickey For Your Thoughts.
As For The Game We Have To Say Chesham Were Too Good For Us.
As For Attendance's This Is A Toughie.
In The “Glory”Years Of The Early To Mid Eighties We Were Getting 350-400 Something Of That Figure And Of Course 2,700 Against Telford.
But People Move Out Of The Area And Retire Etc And Then The Challenge Is How To Replace Existing Fans And Crucially Attract New Ones.If We Had One Of Those 3G Pitches Hired Out To The Community That May Help And We Do Have A Good Tie Up Now With Bessingby Rangers In Ruislip For Youth Players.
As For Conference South On The Crowds We Get At The Moment That Would Be A Real Challenge And If We Are Honest Financially Difficult With The Recources We Have At The Moment.

I’m Not Speaking For Other Fans Gee-Mickey Just Giving A Personal Opinion.
We Have One Of The Lowest Budgets In The League And It Takes Tremendous Effort By Those On The Board With Financial Support And The Vice Presidents With Race Nights,Quiz Nights,Elite Monthly Draws And Of Course 50/50 Draws On Match Days As Well As Stewards Volunteers To Keep The Club Afloat.Matchday Staff At The Gate,Refreshment Hut And Selling Programmes!
As Well The Club Takings At The Bar And Hiring Of Club Hall.
I Was Told “Unofficially” That 350 Attendence Figure Is Needed Every Game To Break Even.
I Always Say A Top 10 Finish And Good Fa Cup Run Or Trophy Run Would Be A Good Season.
We’ve Got The League And FA Cup Right!
Vision For Harrow Borough Would Be To Try To Be As Successful As Possible By Us Existing Fans Telling Friends And Neighbours About Borough And See If They Would Come Along But Most Important To Keep The Club On A Sound Financial Footing As Possible.

Like Terry I'm only speaking for myself and also as a fan who's moved out if the area, so I don't have any answers but here's my view.
You definitely need to be successful to attract fans, and that's got to be sustained over a period of a few seasons, not just one.
Agree you've got to get the local community involved but I don't think that's easy in London with a moving/mobile population with so many other distractions within a radius of 10 miles.
Where I am in "Wessex Country" there are certainty less distractions for the likes of Dorchester, Salisbury ,Wimborne etc. And it's fairly easy to attract 300 plus fans to an average game at our level also the population is less mobile. I know of people not far from me who have never been to London ! Some Saturdays in the winter it's dead down here on a Saturday afternoon compared to what you can do in North West London. So going to the local football match is a lot easier thing to do .
Perhaps a move back to the Isthmian League would help ?
But it doesn't seem to be helping Wingate and Finchley crowds much .
I think we probably suffer because we don't attract many away fans in the Southern League to Harrow (not sure why) but I think if we could get promoted to the NLS it would improve our position big time .
Less travelling than the SLPS and bigger crowds of away fans at Earlsmead. But we got to get out the league first and I think we are a mid table team rather than top 6. (I'd love to be proved wrong!)
Anyway that's my "two cents" worth and there's no easy answers I guess.

Some Very Good Points Use Mention There Earlsmead Part Timer.
When l Had The Pleasure Of Visiting Dorchester A Few Years Ago On Our Supporters Coach We Saw A Sign Saying 20 Miles To Dorchester And We Saw The Most Stunning Countryside,Some Sheep And Horses And Nothing Else Till We Got To Dorchester And Then A Topps Tiles!!!
It’s A Good Point About A Moving Population In London.
A Lot Of People Now Short Term Renting And With No Roots In An Area.
As For Conference South l See Where Your Coming From In Being More High Profile And Away Fans Agreed But Offset Against Players Wanting Higher Wages Etc.
Personally I Would Go Back In The Isthmian League Tomorrow But The Descion Of Course Was Out Of Our Hands.

Yes , it's bit of a conundrum for clubs like ourselves Terry but I'm not sure the Isthmian is the panacea it appears to be .
W&F had a "local" match against fellow Londoners Hornchurch yesterday, not far for fans to travel and their crowd attendance was even less than us !
Being successful is part of the answer for any club IMO , but of course it's got to be sustainable and not crash and burn which has happened to a lot of clubs over the years at our level .

Yes Hello Earlsmead Partimer.
Sustainable The Word And Not Just A Flash In The Pan Success.
In The “Old”Days I Used To Ask My Dad How Come Enfield Were So Successful And He Told Me They Had A Solid Fan Base,Good Income From A Nightclub And Most Importantly Ted Hardy Their Manager.
You Marry That Together With A Winning Attitude And Those Are Templates For Success And All Fans Like To Be Associated With Success If Possible.
When We Were In The Isthmian Attendance Was Broadly Similiar But Travel Was Less.
When l First Started Watching Borough In 1975 l Remember Fondly On The Team Coach Trips With Dad To Walthamstow Avenue,Dulwich Hamlet,Tilbury,Clapton,Faversham In The Cup And Harwich & Parkeston My All Time Favourite Seeing The North Sea!!!
Isthmian League Was Mostly London And Home Counties Except For Harwich!
I Think They Do These League Reorganise Every Season So See What Happens Then Earlsmead Part Timer.

Didn't know both those ex-Boro players were playing for W&F.
Rated both of them when they played for us so something has not quite "clicked" with them footballing wise if a few years later they've ended up there. (All due respect to W&F of course!)
I really thought that both would have played a lot longer at a higher level.

Yes Agreed Earlsmead Part Timer.Dylan Couldn’t Make It A Sutton And Ibrahim After He Had The Trial At Cardiff Seemed To Lose His Way A Bit But As Us Borough Fans Know They Are 2 Very Talented Players At This Level Of Step 3 In Non League.
