Non League Day - Merthyr Town (H)

As we approach Saturday another non-league day is upon us. Founded, and ran by Harrow Borough legend James Doe. This year’s fixture sees the Reds host the mighty Martyrs. Who have suffered a poor season, losing narrowly in the 91st minute against Gosport Borough. Against the run of play in their last outing. All but confirming their relegation. A late change in management proving to be detrimental to their survival hopes. When the sides last met Harrow Borough walked away with the three points. James Ewington and Kunle Otudeko finding the net in south Wales. Merthyr getting one back late on, before hitting the woodwork in the final minute. Through Dylan Jones, who is no longer at the club. Ahead of this match, the Penydarren based club have picked up six points in their last five matches. Including a narrow defeat down in Taunton. Once more conceding on the 91st minute. Keyon Reffell seeming to be a sensational signing for the club. Joining stars such as Kerry Morgan, and Adam Davies. Harrow Borough have done slightly better in their last five fixtures. Wins against Hartley witney and Taunton handing them six points. Whilst a four-goal thriller against Swindon gave each team a point.

What is everyones score predictions? Im going with a 1-1 score line... Reffell and Ewy to score!

Hopefully a good turn out of spectators today after all the hard work put in by James. Will be a tough one today with no pressure on Merthyr . Will go 2-1 Boro.

A very poor first half.
Boro played very well in the 2nd half Hitting the bar twice & the post, while the Merthyr keeper made a few outstanding
Saves.
A last minute equaliser seemed very harsh, but Merthyr battled every inch of the way.

I enjoyed the whole vibe around the ground today. A happy Non League Day to All !

1st half was just about the worst game anyone present will have watched all season which would have boosted the half time bar takings.
2nd half George Moore was outstanding and was involved in everything we did having moved back into midfield after he was played up front with James Ewington in the 1st half.
Play your best players in their best positions and stop trying to be cute with team selection!
Great atmosphere on non league day though a 5 minute water break with the thermometer hitting the heights of 17c was a little bizarre..

A very poor quality game, like you said, the first half was not very good. Both teams with far too much hoofing with no real tactic or bravery to play football on what admittedly is a bobbly pitch. Moore came close twice early on with fierce drives but that was about as exciting as the first half got.

Second half wasn’t hugely improved in quality but Boro definitely had the better of the chances. Moore hitting the post, Donnellan missing a sitter with his head but also have a shot destined for the net, spectacularly saved.

The game had a bit of an end of season feel to it. Neither team has much to play for, albeit Merthyr can still mathematically survive, they look like I team that dont believe they can or will. Boro kept pushing for a second goal, even in the 94th minute when perhaps a shut up shop job was needed. This led to a lapse in the Boro defence with Merthyr firing home what was almost the last kick of the game.

Great to see a huge variety of people in the ground today. Hope they all visit again.
