Swindon & Match Officials 2 - 1 Boro
Views: 1617
We all know how this movie ends as we've seen it every time we pass Maidenhead on the M4.
1st half we were superb and played some brilliant football.
Billy scored yet another screamer and we should have been 3 - 0 up at half time.
Always worrying when you don't take advantage of your domination.
2nd half started evenly with neither side looking like scoring until we concede the almost obligatory soft goal from a long throw that none of the home team players claimed.
Up until 70 mins the game was without incident. Unfortunately it appeared that the truth serum the officials had been injected with had worn off and they realised that it was time to spin the M4 wheel of misfortune which always seems to end up on 'Screw over Harrow'
Linesman becomes flag happy whenever we went within a few feet of their left back and a couple of very dubious and late offside decisions go against us.
Not wanting to be left out of the limelight the ref gives Swindon a soft free kick from which we don't defend well and Swindon take an undeserved lead.
Boro keep pressing forward searching for a deserved equaliser. Boro player clattered midway inside our own half. Whistle goes, every Swindon player retreats into their own half to defend the free kick only to find that the ref has actually awarded them a free kick.
This was just the warm up act for the main event of the ineptitude show..
Third minute of injury time and a Boro free kick is hoisted into the box. Imran runs past his marker to meet the ball and the most blatant two handed, forceful push in the back sends him flying onto the turf.
The whole ground waiting for the ref to blow and point to the spot. But he shakes his head and waves play on.
Yellow flagged and bellied linesman who had been only too keen to award the home side numerous soft free kicks looks at the floor and keeps his flag down.
Ref blows for full time a few seconds later and a plethora of yellow cards shown to the Boro coaching staff for telling the officials a few home(r) truths.
A display of officiating so incompetent that the ref and his yellow flagged friend will surely get a chance to join the government at ministerial level later this week.
Should have had the points in the bag by half time but we still deserved at least a point.
At least we don't have to go down the M4 again until... Oh s**t...

I've not seen such a blatant shove in the back not given as a free kick.Imran was clear in the box and a goal beckoned until the "Twat in Black" cancelled his Specsavers subscription and waved play on.Not surprised as we travelled West last night.π‘π‘π‘π‘

Agree with the major 100%.
The last 20 minutes the ref lost the plot completely
I vote for the Major to be promoted to General!

Alright butt.
Thank you so much for the in-depth review of the fixture away to Swindon Supermarine. It is greatly appreciated, for those of us who could not make the game this evening. For whatever reason. Sadly, can not disagree with you on our luck when visiting teams along the M4. Taunton and Weston Super Mare examples which spring to mind. Glad Billy boy got a goal. The lad seems to be firing, which is great for the club. Nice one with the joke regarding the government too. Hopefully a better referee is free for the trip to Merthyr Tydfil. Penydarren Park certainly does not have a forgiving crowd, which will impact the atmosphere. All the best!

Agreed. Thanks for your views on the match Majors.
Don't understand why we cannot see these games out when we are so dominant ???
In my book we could/should have won 4 out if the last 4 not just the one .
As for some of the officials we've had away from home (although I wasn't there last night) I'm not surprised at their continued incompetence.

It's so frustrating.
We look solid at the back for 95% of games but then concede soft goals out of nowhere.
You can't get away with that when you don't take your chances at the other end.

Regardless of the poor decisions, itβs very frustrating to dominate games for large periods and then fall behind. Must start taking advantage. Lots of hitting the post and offside goals. Hopefully luck will change soon enough. Need a good run into the new year

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories but refs from the south west with an agenda against Harrow? Surely not.......?
As frustrating as it is that we can play so well without punishing teams on a relatively regular basis but yet manage to get hit with a sucker punch suggests to me that we're going to start winning games sooner rather than later. It would be different if we were second best every match and getting outplayed.

It's been really interesting reading this thread, especially given Hendon's last two visits down the M4 and M5 in the past week.
I'm not one to subscribe to conspiracy theories. However, when there's a mass brawl after the game in which both sides appear to be equally culpable, yet one side receives four players sanctioned and the other side just one... Then four days later you hit your longest away day of the season (well, joint longest), have your goalkeeper dismissed 17 minutes in at 0-0 and lose 6-0, only for the ref to tell you afterwards that he got that dismissal wrong...
That doesn't include the numerous times you head westward to find officials on first name terms with oppo players, or when officials accepting drinks from home supporters during the game, or when officials are caught smiling and winking at home fans after the game.
Reffing is nigh on impossible, I get that, but sometimes you do have to scratch your head and wonder.

I've been following some of the match reports etc when Hendon have gone out "West" John and like the Boro, have noted you've had some very odd decisions go against you (as have Harrow) especially when it's in Devon or Somerset.
There must be something in the water down there !?

Red Cards

Hendon had 7 red cards in 147 minutes of football. That is some going !!
But we all agree. You are far more likely in this division to have a player Sent off when playing in the South West.
Taunton & Frome spring to mind .
