Thought it might be an idea to have a world cup thread to discuss the games.
Are there any Boro connections with this tournament?

The disallowed Ecuador goal in the opening minutes would have been ruled out for Boro at Swindon / WSM / Taunton without a doubt.

Agreed the VAR team (Qatar v Ecuador) are clearly from the West Country !!!
Presume Nick Pope is our "World Cup" connection. Can't think of any others

Certainly Nick Pope is a Boro link to the World Cup.

Not sure of any others, but that Qatar side looked like a few of them might have played at our level!

All England games are being shown on the front & back bars at The Boro. So if anyone is about at 1pm tomorrow, see you there.

Looking for connections to the Boro at the World Cup.
Wales manager Rob Page was manager of Northampton when we played them in the FA Cup. He came to watch Boro the week before, I happened to be at the club door when he arrived, an absolute gent. He was very complimentary about The Boro.

I'm glad to hear that Robert Page was complimentary about The Boro. As a Watford fan and Watford season ticket holder back then, I spent a good few years of my childhood watching him play every week.

Poland Defender Matt Cash, his brother Adam Cash played for Boro in 2013/14
