Unbelievable...
Now get George Moore on the phone this afternoon and build a team around him.

Met Police have voluntarily dropped to step 4 which is why we are reprieved.

There were rumours of the Met dropping down a league especially after their manager left
I thought the reprieve would have gone to the team that came 4th bottom of the Northern Prem as they had the best record. Then Kings Langley were next in line.

Saw those same rumours too. Apparently financial and being in the southern as opposed to the isthmian meant there were some questions. Didn’t expect them to voluntarily go though.
This raises questions about our budget and definitely about the squad now. JB certainly has a different kind of job now!

Their ex manager, Mcpherson has just taken over at Enfield Town.
Interested to know if the club knew this reprieve was a possibility.
How does this effect Jordans player recruitment?
In the NLP interview he said that he was looking forward to rebuilding at step 4.
Now we're back at step 3 - does he think that the players he had already persuaded to come to Earlsmead from Egham are good enough to make the leap up 2 leagues instead of 1.
Is the rumoured £500 a week budget cut still going to happen now we're not relegated?
Lots of questions which will all be answered in time.
Right now we can all sit back, smile and thank the Met Police 😉👮

Yes lots of questions indeed. Like you say, are these Egham players (assuming he has lined some up) good enough for step 3? Does Jordan Berry have links to players at this level? Is he the right man for a job at step 3? The article says he's only 29. He'll surely be younger than some of our players.

I'm absolutely stunned.
This must be some sort of record ? How many reprieves has this club had ?
Talk about "Houdini Harrow" !!!

numquam releganda
They need to incorporate these words on the club badge.
Latin for 'never to be relegated'
Looking forward to reading the twitter reactions from the Wealdstone fans tonight.

Not sure who this guy is. Maybe a Hendon fan.
So Hendon stay stuck in the South West league, and needn't have bothered avoiding relegation as poxy Harrow Borough get away with it again on a reprieve. Relegating your local rivals loses a lot of it's enjoyment when the f*****s get out of it on a technicality.
F*****g Harrow Borough reprieved again, c****s are like the s**t that'll never flush.

To be fair, all those new teams are a reasonable distance. Now that Weston and Truro have gone, I'm sure the distances overall have decreased.

If he is a Hendon fan (what is his username?), then he is most definitely in the minority. I only have respect for your club and am delighted that you’ve been reprieved. Assuming there’s no more surprises, I look forward to renewing old rivalries next season.

Fairly sure he’s an occasional Hendon fan - definitely not representative of typical Hendon fans.
I agree with an earlier poster - nothing good can come from engaging with people like that.

I’m still very much in shock. I’d pretty much come round to the idea of being at Step 4 and probably ISC. I’m not disappointed as you always want to be higher and step 3 technically should allow us to see better football. However, I was also looking forward to some new grounds, local matches and even Boro being in the top half (not that it was guaranteed). Today’s announcement throws in a load of questions about how the club moves along for the next season now. Firstly, the budget which was significantly cut. Will the VPs go deeper into their pockets? We’re along way off this seasons Step 3 budget, so if they don’t get it back up to that, it could be an even worse season than the one we just had. Would the powers at be, be happy with a lower budget and ‘another’ relegation. Or will they back JB to see what he can achieve at this level now?
Another question is the manager. Would he have been appointed is SB was leaving us with guaranteed step 3? I know Michael Bryan and MCS both applied but my thought (total speculation), is that the club may have gone for Gary Meakin instead who is experienced at this level. I can’t see Boro getting rid of Berry at any point this season. We’re quite a loyal club with regards to managers so even if we were sitting bottom at Xmas, he probably wouldn’t be moved on. That would be especially true if the budget is kept low and the club ‘don’t mind’ going down. Depending on the way the club goes now, it could be a real possibility that if the club do not back JB, that he leaves of his own accord if things don’t go right during the season. If he sees it as an impossible task, he may rather get out and save his reputation rather than go down with us. I think that would be fair if he was unfairly given a low budget with no hope of staying up.
Players is the next question. This decision ultimately changes the way JB looks at his squad. Probably don’t swoop for quite as many players from Egham. Can/will he be able to afford players he wants for this level. Again depends on the budget. Who will now consider staying that would have otherwise left. Leonard, Brosnan and Noel-Williams must be easier to keep around as well as Biler, Sharman, Chukwu and Ikebuasi. Do we have a chance at keeping George Moore? Drazic was my choice for a chance in goal, will he be given a chance at this step?
It’s fascinating really. I hope the club commit more money (what we can afford) to the playing budget and give JB a chance to make a mark at this level. It’ll be such a waste if we flounder in the bottom 4 all season and get relegated anyway.
I hope the club start to announce signings, friendlies etc as we move along in the next 6 weeks. A lot of clubs seem to do so and it would be nice if we did too, even just for a bit more prominence on social media.

It would be scandalous if they appealed against the reprieve.
What message would that send to Jordan and the players?
Please don't get us promoted as it costs too much.
We're hardly the most active club when it comes to the media side of things.
I'm still waiting for the report of the Middx Senior Cup final to be published

At this point I wouldn’t put it past the club, considering the chit chat that they were happy for us to go down for less money to spend and less travel. It would send a strange message but I guess it would be similar to Met Police. Surely the FA would check with us first before publishing. Let’s see what the club say. Nothing from them yet which does seem odd.

There are a lot of clubs at Step 3 / 4 who have moved leagues who haven't put anything online about it.
It's all volunteers who do the media side for clubs and it's allegedly the quietest time of the year, when you should be able to go away for a week without interruption.
Appealing against staying up would be telling JB - don't get promoted but try not to get relegated.
If the funds need to be found, let's get creative and look at what other clubs are doing with their season tickets etc.
Different pricing levels end of season dinner with the players etc.
I'd be happy to give £100 a month to the club if it went towards the playing budget.
You have to maximise opportunity in life. We have somehow been given a chance to continue at Step 3 and to turn it down in my mind would be wrong on so many levels.
So, we'll have one of the smaller budgets in the league. Just go out there and have a go.
If one of my staff at work cocks up, I only become all 'boss like' if its because they didn't do something. If they tried and it went wrong - we learn from it and move on. Positive mistakes.
Who wants to be at Earlsmead on a cold February night next year thinking 'this team could have held it's own at step 3'
Hopefully those in charge at the club will see the reprieve as a chance to have a blooming good go at mid table stability in the SLP.

All they have to do is ask.
Number of emails received from the club last season as a season ticket holder and member, bar AGM details..
Zero.
Nil
None
Nada
Monthly newsletter to members and current / former season ticket holders updating events at the club and playing side updates would be an idea.
Highlight the good stuff at the club.
I stumbled across the pitch having work done on it on Instagram yesterday.
Pitch was superb last season. One of the best surfaces in the league.
