Billericay

It will be a good test for us today. You’d like to think with the season just two weeks from starting, that JB will be looking at what his best team is now. If anyone is going then please let us know updates or a report of the game/performance

Lost 4-2.
There was a team sheet that had most of our starting team listed.
1. Tyler Tobin (Uxbridge)
2. Barsa Mirtahmasebi (Egham)
3. Trialist
4. Stefan Powell (Egham)
5. Reece Yorke (Egham)
6. Tristan Vernal (Egham)
7. Trialist - It was 100% Excellence Muhemba (Egham)
8. Trialist - though I believe it was Nagheeb Ibrahim (Egham)
9. Reece Cameron (Arlesey)
10. Lonit Talla (Egham)
11. Charlie Mitchell (North Greenford)
The #3 I don't know who he is but he looked very good, so I hope he signs.
The first hour it was a very even game. They took the lead after 8 minutes. Cross from our right headed in at close range by ex Hayes forward, Emmanuel Moses.
We looked really good on the ball and pretty organised without it. Charlie Mitchell was with us pre season last year. Has scored 20+ a season at North Greenford from midfield the last 2 years.
He was linking up really well with the mystery left back.
Yorke and Vernal at CB looked solid and you could tell they have played together before.
Excellence looks a proper handful. Speed and power, coming in from the right - more of this shortly.
3 centre midfielders. Powell and Ibrahim? more holding ball winners and Talla who plays between the midfield and big man (Cameron) up front.
We missed a couple of chances and played some really nice stuff in the first half.
Equalised early on in the second half. Ball won in midfield. Slipped behind their left back for Mirtahmasebi to cut in towards the byline before fizzing a cross along the 6 yard box for Reece Cameron to slide home.
Billericay went back in the lead again when we failed to clear a loose ball in our box.
Excellence then scored a top class goal to draw us level. Picked up the ball close to the centre spot inside our half. Turned and ran through a couple of Billericay players who bounced off him, before looking up and unleashing a powerful shot that dipped over the home keeper and under the bar from 25 yards out.
Stunning goal.
At this point we made 7 outfield subs. I only recognised Keegan, who came on at right back.
Billericay left the majority of their starting XI on for another 10 minutes and when they did bring on subs, they brought on some experienced and big physical units.
We conceded 2 in the last 25 minutes and rarely looked like getting anywhere near their goal tbh. Gave the ball away nearly everytime we got it. That will always happen in pre season with trialists wanting to impress. You're not going to catch the eye playing a 5 yards pass, so you try and play a magic pass that might come off once in fifty attempts.
Really encouraged by what I saw from the starting team today.
I will add that from goal kicks we had both centre half's inside our 6 yard box, passing it between them and the keeper.
That's going to age a lot of us fans very quickly. Defibrillator attached to Babs tea hut might be a good idea if we are going to play out from goal kicks all season.

The left back in recent games has been Mack Miskin I believe.

Yes. 100% him. Was at Hanwell last season.
Got carried off after half an hour against Barton after a nasty challenge.
Fingers crossed he's fit for Totton

The southern league published this article 10 days ago. I presume that we have therefore registered those players. Anyway, let’s look at the players from that’ article and todays lineup at Billericay which was;
Tyler Tobin (GK)
Barsa M
Trialist
Stefan Powell
Reece Yorke
Tristan Vernal
Trialist
Trialist
Reece Cameron
Lonit Talla
Charlie Mitchell
Tyler Tobin - Goalie who signed for us just before lockdown and played two games. Played regularly in the last couple of seasons for Uxbridge in the league below.
Barsa M - Barsa Mirtahmasebi is a 20 year old defender or midfielder who has played for Kings Langley, Staines, Slough, Hayes and Egham.
Stefan Powell - a midfielder who has played for teams including Beaconsfield, Northwood, Chalfont and Egham.
Tristan Vernal - Tristan Francois-Vernal is a 20 year old defender who came through at Leyton Orient before joining Middlesbrough in 2021. Played for Egham last season.
Reece Cameron - Big striker who was at Arlesey Town but has previous played for Colney Heath, Oxhey Jets and Aylesbury United
Lonit Talla - A tricky winger/attacker who came through the Uxbridge academy and played for Qpr. Spent last season at Egham.
Charlie Mitchell - trialled with us last season. From North Greenford United.
The article mentions the following players also;
Sandro Costa Dias Fernandes - a mouthful and a winger from Northwood who has also played for Chesham, Uxbridge, Egham and Southall.
Nagheeb Ibrahim - a midfielder from Leverstock Green who has also played for Edgware & Kingsbury.
Donte Thompson-Prempeh - a young striker who came through the Southampton ancademy before moving to Fleetwood and then joining Broadfields and most recently Chesham.
I think Tobin, Yorke and Powell will be very good signings in terms of experience and leadership. The rest all seem pretty young. JB will be working on a tight budget some won’t have much wiggle room. Cameron scored today and supposedly has been a threat in recent friendlies too. Vernal, Talla and Thompson-Prempeh have academy experience so it’ll be interesting to see them. How much the other registered players are involved will yet to be seen. The majority have Egham connections. Sharman, Bloom, Kandolo, Muhemba and Lawal are probably also involved and IF George Moore was to stay that would be good.
If we fielded the following team;
Tobin
Bloom Yorke Kandolo Sharman
Moore Powell Vernal Talla
Cameron Muhemba
We would have a nice balance of experience and youth, but whether that team is good enough for step 3, we will wait and see.

I was genuinely impressed today.
Team looked like a team. There wasn't blind panic everytime the ball was in our box.
Jordan and his staff were coaching and making little changes throughout the game.
As I mentioned in my mini report of the game - everyone looked comfortable on the ball. Now, that's easy to do in July (even though it felt like November today) on AstroTurf.
Every player wasn't afraid to put a tackle in.
Charlie Mitchell seems to have hit the gym and creatine shakes since last pre season.
I believe it was him who played a defence splitting pass in the first half that Trialist Muhemba nearly scored from. I was temporarily distracted by dropping tea on my jeans as my hands were so cold.
If we could add George Moore to what I saw out there for the first hour today... We would be scoring a lot of goals and be fun to watch.
Time will tell.
