Earlsmead to be sold

After a year or so of speculation it has now been confirmed that Earlsmead has been sold
So this will be Boro's 93rd & final season playing there.
A ground share is planned to enable the club to continue.

That's very sad to hear.
Like every other Boro fan I have lots of memories tied up with the place. Can't be many pre war grounds left in London now.

That's not good news.
Wealdstone survived because their core fans make the zealots at Masada look liberal. Like the Unsullied in GoT, but with their balls intact.
Hendon survived because they had enough warning to build up a survival fund and David Bedford & a few other fans had enough connections to get them through their exile.
I assume Mr. Rogers and the Board get on OK with Mr. Gumm - who was as remarkably generous to Hendon as Mr. Rogers... but getting along with Mr. Gumm isn't always straightforward.

I think Hendon fell out with Mr Gumm at Wembley.
Not sure what over.
But Wembley would certainly be an option, from what I hear probably not the most likely option thou.

I can find no evidence that Mr. Gumm was born in Yorkshire, but he does give that impression. Decent enough bloke by most standards, though.
I'd have thought Vale Farm was the natural choice. Easiest to get to and the facilities are OK.
Can't believe the selling price was £1.4 million. That's a couple of 3-bedroom houses! It would be incorrect to say Wealdstone got £7m or £8m for Lower Mead 35 years ago, but that's what Tesco allegedly paid for it.

I don't know what was paid, but you cannot build houses or shops on it , it has to remain sport/leisure.

If the Earlsmead ground has to remain in use only for sport/leisure, would it be possible for Harrow Borough FC
to rent the ground on a season by season basis, rather than seek an alternative groundshare elsewhere ?
I'm a bit of a cynic, but I can't help feeling someone is going to make a lot of money somehow, in due course .......

I'm fairness, it took Andrew Landesberg a long time to get around the "covenant" restricting Claremont Road to sporting use - and he's clever!
...and fair play to him for managing to pull it off.
