There are indeed loads of clubs out there running highly successful academies who are part time . Boreham Wood are massively supported ( financially ) by their academy and came within one game of promotion to the EFL last season despite having crowds of 300-400 and being part time . O'Neil has left us to run an academy at a club who certainly won't be full time any time soon if ever . Whatever the reasons for needing to be full time it certainly wasn't to run alongside a full time academy .
