I went to watch my grandson play in his first six a side game of the season on Sunday. Heading at his level is now outlawed ( I understand the reasons for that). But it's quite funny seeing the kids lean back expectantly (as previously coached,) to plant a head-high ball over a keeper. Then suddenly realising last minute that they'll concede a free kick if they do so.

Throw ins are also now forbidden at their level. Instead, the player has to drop the ball at his feet and kick it. He may dribble if he wishes. I guess that is to reduce the long throw which can encourage players to head the ball on. These two rule changes make the game less entertaining as a spectator but mostly the kids have got the hang of it now.

No offsides. Thankfully.
