Youre not the only one. To my eternal regret I never went round Nuneaton steam shed, as I was too frit as a little lad. My best mate at time lived right by it and was always trying to get me to go round. Talking of loco sheds remember doing Hither Green aged 13? and we would casually wander across from platform end, avoiding the 3rd rail, by staying on boards.
Friendliest bunch, late 60s, were at Finsbury Park. I recall the West Indian maintenance guys would even let you sit in the Deltic cabs.
No management around at weekends?
