Liam Daish was a successful Manager at Ebbsfleet United for 8 years before joining the Boro.

On the face of it, a good appointment at the time.

Edit:

Daish was born in Portsmouth & started his football career in the Youth team at Pompey.

He lived in Portsmouth when he managed Ebbsfleet & also during his brief spell with the Boro.

After he left the Boro he returned to coach the Portsmouth Academy for 5 years.

In 2022 he was appointed as the Academy Manager at Birmingham City.

I suspect travelling back & forth from Portsmouth could have been an issue at Liberty Way?
