From the cup success, mid sixties, with really good attendances, to the Carr era, was about twelve/ thirteen years. That was ample time to develope the ground. Had they invested wisely, then a move from Manor park would, perhaps, not have been necessary. Like you say , they only did anything once they were forced to , after the Bradford fire , which put the club in massive debt which accepting an offer for the ground was a consequence. The rest is history.
