Kerry was the chairman of the interim board while the Shooter Kelly court case was running
The club collapsed financially with debts unpaid relating to the completion of the main stand refurb. The administrator brought in was Hedley Brunt and a consortium headed by Kerry saved the club - I think they all put around 10 grand in. The question remains, which I can't answer was whether debts had been written off or were just restructured with the new consortium money allowing this.
Massive damage done over the years by several individuals who were nothing short of chancers but ask this question?
Was the club ever viable at the higher levels with the support it was getting? In 14 seasons of top flight alliance premier football at both Manor Park and Liberty way the average league attendance was only a tad over 1300. If support can't bring sufficient income in to compete then sponsorship, non match day income and even private investment has to be considered.
My honest option related to the hisotric failures of Nuneaton Boro was the failure to build on the success of the late 60s. The ground issue has been the biggest problem and if Boro had improved Manor park and created a means to make money all year around things could have been different . All.that said Nuneaton was a relatively deprived declining mining town post 1960s and a lack of money was probably always an obstacle as it probably is today.
No matter what is said,is the club really wanted by Nuneaton people these days in sufficient numbers to sustainably finance a club in the top tiers of non league? Personally I don't think it is sadly without major investment and we all know how dodgy that could be. What i see these days is Nuneaton people getting on coaches to watch Cov city and local pubs bedecked in sky blue for big city games. Time will tell if Boro can come back at the higher level but rebuilding trust and obtaining the funding won't be easy.
