The steering group met on Monday 12th February and, as we pledged at our initial meeting, Boro fans are at the heart of our decision making process. This will truly be a club created by Nuneatonians for Nuneatonians.

The success of your new club depends on YOUR support. We are close to being able to announce key information but before we can formalise agreements we need to register a club. We cannot use the name Nuneaton Borough, so we are running a poll to allow supporters to express their preference between two suggested names.

This poll has been set up with help from the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA), and you can vote online at:
https://surveymonkey.com/r/nuneaton-team-name

Time is of the essence and with this in mind the poll will run for five days from Tuesday 13th February until Saturday 17th February at 3pm. The winning club name will be submitted to the FA for approval, and will be used to formally put our plans in place in readiness for next season.

Today we have contacted the FA to register our intent to apply to join the National League system next season. As soon as supporters’ preference for the club name has been agreed this application will be formally submitted.

In addition, the creation of our own new Community Interest Company (CIC) was agreed on Monday. A CIC is a company structure set up to benefit the community and not for private profit. We believe that this structure which will give us the flexible governance platform that we need to ensure the sustainability of our club going forward.

Dialogue has begun with the juniors and ladies’ sections and we hope to be able to have in-depth discussions with them in due course to see how we can work together for everyone’s benefit.

We have been working hard on our financial model based on data from clubs currently at the various steps in the pyramid where we could be playing next season. The model will be used as a basis for sustainable budgeting when the club is up and running.

Members of the steering group have a wide range of experience and skills and are working with full support from the FSA. The group is creating smaller sub-committees to focus on specific issues to ensure that everything required is in place as soon as possible.

We are on the verge of so many exciting developments and more details will be shared with fans as things progress over the next few weeks. Here’s to a bright new future and one that you will have kicked off by choosing the name of YOUR club.
