Boro sold John Gill to Atherstone (for £200) less than a fortnight after Pleat had said he wanted him to stay.
Scattergood done the deal with Reg Read of Adders.

Two days later we were smashed 4-1 away at Kettering (att- 2464)

That evening Pleat resigned. Geoff Coleman took charge.

Five days after Pleat resigned (due to fan pressure) Scattergood resigned as Chairman (he remained on the board)
Vice Chairman Ken Peel became chairman.

About 3 weeks later Coleman and Peel resigned along with company secretary Sam Downs.
They resigned "as a matter of principle" after the board blocked a transfer deal that would see Barry Franklin rejoin Adders in exchange for Bobby Mackey and Bobby Vincent.

Two days later the deal was done anyway.

Then fans handed in a petition calling for Scattergood, Ces Dawson and Ernie Davonport to quit. It was those three who had tried to block the deal.
Next day all three quit.
Ken Peel and Sam Downs were asked to return.

Following week.. handshakes all round as Peel and Scattergood made up.
Peel took over as chairman with Scattergood remaining the Manor Park Social Club Chairman.
Scattergood, Davenport and Ces Dawson offered life vice presidencies.
