It’s not consecrated ground. Ground can only be consecrated by a Bishop. I believe the land was simply blessed in a dedication service by a then local clergy man Rev Betteridge.
The stadium certainly isn’t consecrated either.
The CoOp do wonderful work and it’s best to let them get on with their hard work with regard to the Memorial Garden.
It is better condition now in terms of the surrounds as all the buildings have been demolished and removed.
