My memory is

1 Stocker wanted his money back from the Nuns.
2 The Nuns did not have this money.
3 The only way the Nuns could get the money was to sell Liberty Way.
4 Stocker suddenly gets involved at the Boro and the move is agreed.
5 Stocker appoints Neale to build the ground to minimum requirements.
6 Result - Boro get a ground; Nuns get Stocker off their back; Stocker gets his Money; Neale gets a nice contract.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but.........
....... Was the liquidation of the club, the tearing up of the ground share agreement and Neale owning a football club the plan from day 1.

I have also been told that the Tech needed to expand, but could only build on the football fields. To do this these playing fields had to replaced. Liberty Way had loads of space. Who better to build the expansion than someone who had access to playing fields not too far away?
The Building/financial crisis put an end to these ideas.
