Where do the fans want the club to be and where it is sustainable are two different things. Talk of getting back to where WE belong, but where is that?
Some stats
Last seasons National league average attendance- 2200.
national north - 1300
Boro/town average league attendance - 1966- Covid season - best part of 60 years.
1450.
Take away the big gates of 1966-70 and the Phillips era gates and it does not
make good reading for steps 1 and 2.
If not enough paying customers, something has to pay the short fall- 12 months a year operating income from an owned stadium and facilities OR
a benefactor.
So many have been blamed over the years for poor governance and in some cases rightly so BUT perhaps the truth remains that Nuneaton people just haven’t come out in enough numbers to make the club viable at the higher levels without external investment.
Only success at a decent level will rebuild support but that is easier said than done.
