First win but dreadful

We may have won but that was poor, lack of composure, lack of ability to make the right pass at the right time, apart from DKE midfield offers nothing, some players need to be putting in far more effort

Wasn’t there but just glad we have stopped the rut.

We really needed that win today and it’s good we have got it.

3 points from the playoff spots and hopefully the win can kick start our season and start a change of fortunes.

I think a bit unfair.

What really suprised me was that Boro passed the ball in the first half in a way I didn't think they were capable of.

2nd half was as I predicted - They weather was such that it was going to be hard for both teams, and easier for the team with the advantage. There was probably going to be just one or two chances and it depended if either side took them........neither did.

Maybe a tad unfair, but we have players who have played at higher level and who are not showing their ability and in some cases not putting enough effort in

You are being unfair and imo are expecting too much.

Didn't see any lack of effort at all today. Really hot out there.

So many chances first half with some good attacking play. A bit shaky at the back but we had two changes. Second half was more even and not much of spectacle, but we defended well and still created chances.

I'm chuffed I decided to buy a season ticket.
Can't wait for Coleville.

Up the Boro.

Far from dreadful IMO. I agree that there was lots of effort and good skill shown. Some nice moves in the first half and unlucky not to have been 3 up by half time. Very hot, and no surprise that the second half saw both teams flagging,

REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL
A win at home.
Some nice football until the heat took it's toll.
A decent ref.
No Boro player or manager booked. (They had 3 bookings).

Looking forward to the rest of the season

Far from dreadful indeed, can't see why any real Boro' fan would describe it as such. Many of the fans who I sit with in the seated stand also praised the performance too. I agree that we can play better, but it's still early days in the revival of our great club.
Really enjoyed the game, especially in the first half, we flagged during the latter part of the second half, but the heat played a big part in that.

There was 2 or 3 challenges that I felt were wild, but the ball was clearly played so (at this level) generally okay. Thing is, if a split second later then the outcome may have been so different.

Rightly or wrongly in 2019 sliding in, when opposition has possession, is a dangerous risk to take.

First home win in nearly a year and first of the season - players would have felt the pressure. Wins build confidence and then performances improve. So hopefully this is just a start

It is a shame we missed out on those performance points, they could make all the difference at the end of the season.

First game of the season for me, the criticism I feel is slightly harsh. I thought first half we looked a real decent outfit. Moved the ball well and could have been 2 or 3 up. Second half had the feel of a pre-season fixture, although as VS mentions the heat no doubt played a factor. First home win in 11 months, let’s enjoy it eh?

tbf to Davey what he stated in the title thread was pretty well spot on imo
there were possible reasons for the performance
however the heat which must have been a factor was at the end of the day the same for both sides.

Very true about being same for both sides, but they struggled also.

Is everyone looking forward to the 2020 World Cup in Qatar? - today’s weather will be a bit in the chilly side.

I applaud FIFA spreading the game to other areas of the world ——- I hope the olympics follow suit and award the wonder winter olympics to Birmingham 🤪🤪🤪

I think you are overestimating Boro' and underestimating the opposition.

It was a pretty nothing game, but given the heat and the early lead boro did what was needed.

Agree with the sprinkler system working well. I’ll be taking an umbrella to the next home game, although it certainly cooled us down on the Rugby club side. Rumour has it that Cam Belford took control of the sprinkler system at half time to shut up the fans that were criticising him first half 😀

No Draught beer in bar was a negative, only expensive bottled lager was offered as an alternative to San Miguel,
The game was petty much standard fayre for mid to bottom of the league we are in.
Should have had is sewn up by HT, thought Henshall was great in the first half.
Poor attendance of 471 with about 10 away fans but it was still the highest in the league today
