Just been told that, whilst I knew Stratford keeper was once on boro books (as was Elliot Taylor; the keeper he replaced) I had forgotten he moved from Boro to Barnsley.

https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/barnsley-fc-snap-up-boro-14236842

Anyone know what happened to ?????? Glover - youngest ever Town (and possibly Boro) player; followed Wright to Darlington then has been playing for Stratford this season.

In other news - Alvechurch manager has left the club.

We’re actually in quite a good position now.

Teams are starting to play their games in hand and we still remain in fifth.

Facts are, and I know I’ve only seen 4 games compared to others seeing more, there really aren’t gonna be many great teams in this league. I’ve seen some utter shite- including teams we’ve lost to. Friends have said other teams at games I’ve not seen have also been shite.

We have more than enough about us to maintain this position.

co-incidence that there were issues with lights before that..... they were suddenly turned on (and off and on IIRC) before the pen.

If I was a boro striker I would be pissed off with this. How about next time we concede a penalty we replace the keeper.

In what way? It’s a common fault of Boro fans to write off players e.g. Ian Crawley especially if they are local players. Towers was mobile, won headers against a big centre half and a packed defence. He laid the ball off well and I cannot remember him making more mistakes than any other player.

Breedon has regularly taken them for his clubs. I don't like it - its strikers job to take pens, and Cadlin was on the pitch.

Stratford came with a game plan, and to be honest had better chances 1st half.

Again boro came 1-dimentional with balls played into the box at every dead ball opportunity with hope Towers or the two central defenders could get onto the end of it. Suppose 2nd dimension was to try and get the ball to powell at every opportunity.

Not a game that will stay in the memory

Yes a very poor game, but another home win and 3 points.
But why on earth is the goalkeeper taking penalties? His job is to save goals not score them!
An awful penalty, three feet over the bar and smashed the light fitting in the stand, proper Sunday League stuff that.
Hopefully that will be his first and last penalty for Boro, embarrassing.

But we won and Stratford battled hard. We looked solid at the back, apart from first 10 minutes when no one seemed to be playing lefr-back. We totally dominated the game. The keeper missed a pen, he does take pens, but had a great game otherwise. The missing Star Wars light sabre was discovered. Hopefully he won’t take any more pens because if the keeper saves it he has only got to boot it forward at an open goal.

Think there were lots of pluses in a good ream performance. We are starting to look like a team now and not 11 individuals

And the cheese burger and chips was excellent

I disagree. By the beard of St. Elmo (did he even have a beard?) I have seen some really poor homes games over the last few seasons. A few were insufferable, a handful were appalling. A couple were so horrible I walked out and went home. This was none of those things.

Yes it started a little tamely. But there was some real passion shown second half and it was far from a poor game. Breeden's penalty miss was simply bizarre,to the point of being hilarious. I've been following Boro' for many many years but I have never seen anything like it. After that disappointment, so may times in the recent past we would have lain down and sobbed over such a setback. Or perhaps more realistically-just given up. But we didn't. We actually battled and ultimately we deserved the victory over a Stratford side who were certainly not backward in expressing their opinions to a very lenient referee. They weren't the most able side I've seen this season but they gave it a go.

Don't take my word for it. In another thread I will share with you a conversation I had with a Leicester City season ticket holder who had brought his lads along. It's food for thought. (He loved it).

We struggled to beat a Stratford side who have been getting well beaten recently, even in second half we didn’t create many good chances, first goal was a free kick that their keeper allowed to bounce of his chest to Kettle, a decent keeper would have gathered the ball from the free kick, and second goal was another penalty.

Belshaw missed against Gosport in FA Trophy replay. Wilkin took a striker off (who now played in league 1) to allow Belshaw to take.
