I've just spoken with them and groundsman is working on pitch. They have had a deluge and the lady there thinks it fair to say that it is doubtful. They are waiting for ref at 6.15 ish.

Didn't realise Danny Glover ( ex boro ) is caretaker manager . Also announced today that Billy Daniels & Enoch Andou have both left the club ( please no Jimmy ) . Looking at their team last Saturday despite the large number of ex-boro they have had there this season only Glover & Ben O'Hanlon were involved . Tom Elliot has followed the ex manager to Buxton .

Not great for any fans who have already travelled but probably not a bad thing with our current injury problems .

I went straight from work. Arrived about 6:30 and was pleased to see the floodlights on.

Oh well - not much of a detour.

Disappointed, but i hate games played in driving wind.

I'd just gone past Keele Services when I got their call. The nice lady in their office took my number and called to turn me back.
I was back home at just before half seven.

Does anyone else remember another game against Hednesford a while back, must have been around the Christmas period, it got called off pretty late then, I turned up at the ground to see a few Boro fans milling around about 45 minutes before kick off only to be told by the steward it was called off 15 minutes ago....

Can’t recall that.

Places I recall being at/near then it being called off include Chase Town x2, Merthyr, and Cambridge City

I once turned up at Runcorn on a Saturday afternoon to find out the game had been called off on the Friday.
The days before internet. Thankfully I had only traveled from Manchester.

The only other wasted journey I remember ((excluding home games) was FCUM in Trophy a few years ago.

Then, also the two classic abandonment - Scarborough (trophy) and Boston (Conference). Also Bromsgrove (BSCup), but that was absolutely necessary.

Few yrs ago travelled all the way to Crawley to watch Boro only to find out on arrival at the ground it had been called off, to top everything off could see through the gates and pitch looked fine as Crawley players were having a training session on it

Remember early years of the APL played Barrow at home . Heavy snow in the morning saw 2"or 3" of snow lying on the pitch , Barrow had already travelled so they played it . Should never have been played and we lost 1-0 , David Johnson former Liverpool striker scored . It just made it over the line before it stopped in the snow . The defeat at Halesowen on an artic night and the FA Cup tie at Lincoln were another two that should never have been played . The 3,000 boro fans who had already arrived in Lincoln probably had a bearing .

That was only game my wife came to (other than 20 mins when lad was mascot against FGR (or May have been Stroud at that time))

Harris got injured - Smithers ended up in goal - Boro lost and looked doomed, but didn’t go down..... just checked - Wycombe, dartford and barrow did . Boro and Dagenham stated up on Gd -

How can I remember that and forget about last saturdays victory.

I remember Scarborough. Their fans tried mopping up the puddles with scarfs. Also a midweek cup replay at Barnet (also in the Trophy?) when the ball splashed off the centre spot and floated down the slope causing the ref to abandoned game before extra time.

We were being given a good hiding at Scarborough and as you say their fans were using scarves and buckets to get the water off the pitch and the Boro fans were using paper cups and glasses to chuck it back on........great days.
