Sponsorship deal pulled

"The controversial decision to declare the season null and void in the Isthmian League, Southern League and Northern Premier League was strongly influenced by BetVictor pulling out of a £30,000 sponsorship deal with all three leagues.

The bookmaker began a two-year sponsorship deal last summer with the money used to fund the running of the leagues, but Sportsmail has learnt that the deal contained a break clause which BetVictor have triggered.

'BetVictor have terminated the sponsorship mainly because of escalating negativity towards betting in football,' the Northern Premier League chairman Mark Harris wrote in an email to clubs this week."

If that deal was across the three leagues it's hardly worth worrying about .

WOW - always amazes me when a sponsor pulls out. Why have such a clause.

£30,000 between 3 premier leagues and 7 feeder leagues does sound pittance. (quick google - 228 clubs)

If true, then it may be a reflection on how difficult it is to get sponsorship at lower levels - I seem to recall there was a time when a league didn't have one and/or signed one very late.

The reason given seems strange. Whilst true on the face of it, when has negativity played a part - I bet they will still take bets on the leagues.
IMO the big problem with betting firms is the in-game betting and advertising. I can see legislation coming soon. Its a massive problem IMO. Alcohol, tobacco and gambling are all addictive, but one is still permitted to advertise when they want.

Are gola still going :)

More likely they thought it wasn’t worth paying when there are no games and their brand is not getting the exposure

And income badly hit.

Betting on the queue at Tesco does not have the same appeal
