Nuneaton Borough sign former Middlesbrough, Norwich City and Reading striker

https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/leroy-lita-signs-nuneaton-borough-18293709
He said: "His partner is from Nuneaton and they’ve recently moved into a house on The Longshoot, which is just five minutes from the ground, so this is a win-win situation for both parties.
"These sort of players don’t come onto Nuneaton's radar very often so we moved quickly and obviously all of us here at the Boro are very excited."
Ginnelly added: "Me and Leroy had a good old chat about football and life in general and we finally got to talking about him joining the club.
"The main thing that he seemed to understand was that this move wasn’t about money and it was a breath of fresh air to sit with a new signing that isn’t trying to hold the club to ransom for the most money he can get. He simply wants to give some of his footballing experience back to his local club."
"Hopefully he can give the players and our fantastic supporters the benefit of his England U21 and Premiership skills."

Wouldn't it be great if we brought in a high profile signing who lived upto expectations . Probably hasn't been long but seems like ages since any did .

I thought Harewood did well for us. Him and Williams was a good little partnership, with some good service behind them.

Lee Hughes put in a solid shift.
4-3-3 with Hughes, Benbow and Lita up top.

Great player was Bobby McDonald.
Before he joined Man City I saw him at Coventry take over the gloves after the keeper had been sent off.
They drew 1-1 against West Ham and whilst he kept nets he kept the Hammers out.
100% every time with him.

Paul Barnes springs to mind , i know he was on loan . Marlon Hereward wasn't exactly a failure but i still felt he could have done more , maybe unfairly .

I'm probably being harsh and no doubt when he was on it he was almost unplayable at this level , Harrogate away ( 3-0 win ) there players were bouncing off him . I just felt for every top performance there was probebly two or three where he went through the motions . Maybe i expected to much .

Let’s hope he gets involved in coaching the younger sides whilst we wait for the season to start. Social distancing rules to apply but hopefully training will start in July.

He may have lost a lot, but as you say class was evident.
When he had the ball at his feet, no way was anyone going to take it off him.

'We will again have virtually a blank canvas to work from.
hopefully lessons learnt from the last close season'.
Same for last few seasons Joe me old matey, its getting boring now.
Not you, the same old, same old.
Problem is there does not seem to be a realistic way out of the steady decline, we dont even own a ground.
Fans will dwindle away again this season.

Wonder how many seasons there have been when we started from scratch? Brendan Phillips, George Rooney spring to mind.

“Fans will dwindle away again this season “ think it very much depends on results and league position

What worries me is what condition the small business owners/bosses are in financially when the new normal appears.
We should all realise that cometh the choice between keeping on an employee or filing out money to a hobby, which one will (should) get the nod.

When football does resume crowds could take a bit of a knock for various reasons . The economy is going to take a hammering and going to football is likely to become a bit of a luxury for many . Can also see a lot of people being nervous about going out into crowds , unless it's Southend beach .

I actually think the opposite.
I can see, initially at least, crowds being up at most levels.
Even a lot of furloughed workers may have put a fair bit of cash aside, as the disposable income they'd usually have had, they'd have been unable to spend.
Lots of shit situations right now of course, but lots of people's savings accounts also getting a nice monthly boost too.

Given we have no idea when/if the season will start and I suspect a 21 game season may be on the cards if it does..........
