I will be amazed if any out of contract players turn down any reasonable and fair offer.

I just hope terms are water-tight and based on number of games to be played and any restrictions on spectators rather than assume a normal 40 week season

Can’t be easy for club to guesstimate as football income (league and cups) is unknown and many local sponsors may well be tightening their belts

I think Benbow is contracted. I was careful with wording :)

DKE would perhaps be the only one who may move on, but these are uncertain times.

Powell. Not sure what people see in him. SLP at best...... suppose "lets wait and see".
he is 24, and had a fair few clubs including Wrexham when 21/22.

seemed to make sense; paying transfer to a recognised player at this level and one assumes a decent wage I would have thought you protect that investment and build a team round that.

tbf to the club you build a squad of say x players.

very early days to be posting negative thoughts on a signing

also did Hood not get pressed into service when blatantly carrying an injury.

for all we know he might be an ideal squad player signed for the right money

"lets wait and see" ....oops ..... sorry vs :-)

Squad.

Interesting to see 2nd and 3rd in PotY vote was for 2 players signed during the season (Osborne & Breedon). Bet neither played 50% of the games.

also - looks like 25 players played 10 games or more last season.

if i could be bothered to count everyone thats I would guess over 50 players

This level, non contract, 7 days notice, players don't have the patience to sit on the bench.

yes i know
in a nutshell all im saying is as you tell us continually on here
and i quote "lets wait and see"
this can apply to negatives as well as positives.
last close season its fair comment to say that some fell way short of what was expected
players that some on here thought would do the business ...however thats football for you

as ive always stated a manager stands or falls by his signings abetted by results.
and yep even a certain Mr Daish used over 50 players
wot a waste of fuckin space that guy proved to be
could not tie K Wilkins shoe laces up as a manager.

Not saying King Kev was a success at Wrexham but he did take them to a trophy final and the third round of the cup where they lead 1-0 at Stoke until late in the game . The only thing he failed in was not taking them back to the football league which many more high profile managers than him have also failed at . Do agree with your overall point . It would be interesting to see how Pep would get on at Redditch .

I think a lot of his issues was he didn’t realise what was expected of him at a club like Wrexham.

He pissed off the players - sort of introduced a part time system.
He pissed off the supports with the style of football (coupled with results)
I have little doubt if he ever had the opportunity again he would approach it differently - even at brackley he seems to have changed on the field mentality.

I wonder how his career would have gone if Boro not gone bust.
iIRC his spell at Boro was just okay.

He alienated the players - like it’s believed messers Reid and Daish did.

The story I was told by keen Wrexham fan was he turned the post match analysis room into a table tennis room.
There was a lot that long standing professional footballers were used to that he stopped...... like analysing the game on Monday morning.

The style of football was certainly not appreciated.
Soon after he arrived his policy was not to lose and I believe he lost a lot of brownie points with a game at Chester.

Davey lets not kid ourselves he done no worse or better than a string of shall we say more high profile managers
they have even been in a relegation spot or very near to it in more recent times.
they want success they think they should have it as they are a big club and yes they may be right
but NOBODY in football rolls over just because you think you should win every game playing beautiful football
if you believe that im sorry your away with the fairies.
games have to be won no matter who you are.

i tell you what Davey if we went out every week playing nice pretty football and lost 2-1 every week there would be hell to play on here i know it you know it everybody reading this including JG and co know it
ffs you dont have to be a guru of football to understand that.
anyway end of
lets move on as i said its the next game that matters

my issue was the "lets not lose attitude", which (as shown in 1st National season) didn't work until (I remember it clearly) he said (immediately prior to the Cambridge game) "we will go for it; we havn't got anything to lose.

Losing 4-5 on the opening day would return the exact same points and gd as losing 0-1 and trying to defend the 0.

I will tell you this; going out and playing dire cautious football and losing 2-1 would result in hell-to-play on here.

and that is so so true.

Amazed Mourinho got both the United and Spurs jobs. Whilst he finished 2nd at united that was not good enough for the owners and that certainly not to do with results. I believe his results at United were better than the current manager.

Didn't the current Bournemouth manager leave for a unhappy time at Burnley?

Football is an entertainment.
Said before - more to football than winning in my book.

I found much of the football to be boring and cautious.

I loved the SLP season.

Given the status/funds/players SL midland was shocking.

I have/will give credit where due but all too often it was a chore to watch games.

I believe his outlook has changed.
