Decent player as far as I am aware, a left back who their fans rate.

Would be the end of Sharpe if so I guess, who I rate, but know others who watch more regularly are indifferent towards.

you have to understand everyone doesn't want or crave publicity
you know like when you used to put an x on the football coupon if you didnt want to
be in the public eye.

I don't post on Boro Chat, but I view it, and based on his name being attached to his posts (they have to be on Facebook), and posting regularly about the ins and outs of the club, I don't think he's too fussed about being anonymous or in the public eye really, Joe. He puts himself in the public eye (not a criticism at all).

Be nice to know how formally we can take his comments, especially on the financials. I'm sure all of us fans are interested to know how secure etc we are.

Doubtful.

My point wasn't directly to do with the finances per se, more, 'do we take Derek's comments as those of the club officially, or his opinion.'

I genuinely think it's important to know.

Some others (e.g Joe) don't. That's cool. We can't all agree on everything.

I agree that its important to know and it would be great if the club had a proper board and staff with clear roles. Transparency about all these things would be fantastic.

I tend to read everything that comes from any of the clubs proper channels as being their voice, and everything else just being opinion.

Sorry, which bit about the finances?

From Derek's posts on facebook, I just more of an opinion that just generally talks about the need to generate funds for the football club and the difficulties the club has been through and still experiences.

I think people can sometimes read way too much into things and then speculate (on a forum they probably not even read or know about). Instead of just tasking them directly. Which everyone who has questions for Derek could do as you clearly all have facebook and read it :). We're not Man City :)

Just to state again, I do also wish that the club had a clearer governance structure so that some of this could be sorted.

IMO one major problem with the club for years. Certainly since town formed is poor communications.

There is a lot of gossip (from people speaking to people allegedly in the know), rumour and conflicting information.

IMO -
only the manager (or assistant) should comment about on-the-field matters.
Only the owner or designated person should comment on off-the-field matters.

^ there is also the website that has to be believed to be official.

It would not be hard for the club to nominate a communication-officer.

his comments were apparently on boro chat
people on here make statements on a regular basis

so what.
when were official channels the only outlet,
people talk
how many times have you heard " rumors " and presented them on here
think long and hard before you answer that one.
because WE all hear things and we all talk.

I asked Kevin Brown this earlier as he does the press releases.

Asked who was still chairman (told JG), and who exactly was on the board, and what DD role was as he seems to be the voice.

Are we take his comments as officially from the club, opinion, facts etc? He mentions finances a bit, so is that gospel?

Clarity would be good, even if just an article explaining who the investors are, what Derek's role is, etc etc. I understand restrictions the club has time wise in doing this, but it would be good to know.

I agree. Transparency breeds confidence. Lots of people helping out, they should be properly acknowledged imo.

But at the same time, if someone is helping but not in an official capacity, its up to them as individuals to make that decision.
