The money man who has invested loads both on and off the pitch has regularly moaned about the crowds . Despite constantly surviving usually comfortably at National level they struggle to stay above the 1000 mark .

Absolutely.

Was also reading that Dover have/had 14 players on contracts which recipe for disaster for a non league club. Look how much it impacted us having half that amount of contracted players.

the sensible way to run a club is to live within ones means. . . .
great in theory and on paper. . . .
then there is the real world out there

Agree Joe, unfortunately clubs are always chasing the dream and feel that if they don’t spend to keep up they will struggle

I think most, if not all players in National are contracted.

I would guess, very few; if any clubs in this league will have any contracted players next season.

Time for non league clubs to stop being full time?

Because no one is gonna commit to a full time job without a contract, knowing they can be gone in 7 days.

With promotion and relegation to the EFL from National League can’t see things changing, most clubs in National feel they have to be full time to compete,

I think so.

Although I think some clubs could stretch to having a couple of full time players on contacts, especially if they are involved in coaching etc. Also non league clubs need a way to try and make some money if they develop a player who moves onto a full time/league club. All about balance I guess.

The furlough scheme ends in October . Currently most of these clubs have their players & staff being paid that way . That's absolutely no guarantee that spectators will be allowed back into grounds by then and there's little chance of clubs below Championship level being able to pay players/ staff with no income . A lot of people are surprised how few clubs have gone so far but it's possible the worst is still to come .

fwiw i believe that if it comes to the crunch
the fans themselves will have to decide whether or not they are prepared to see "their" club go to the wall.
ie. do you want a club or not
obviously im talking lower leagues here.
could it be some sort of a blessing in disguise.
who knows
as ever only time will tell us.

ps i do think that the big clubs could help financially

Really can't see the mega rich foreign owners of most of our big clubs giving a stuff about football down the levels or the long term future of English football . There only in it for short term profit and or glory .

I honestly don’t understand how, or even why, some non league clubs are signing ‘name’ players.

How they anticipate paying wages I’m really not sure
