No crowd return on October 1st.

By Dougie822/9 08:07Tue Sep 22 08:07:10 2020

Just been announced on BBC BREAKFAST that crowds will not be allowed to return to football or rugby grounds on October 1st as originally planned.
Whether this will affect clubs at our level or below in coming weeks we will have to wait and see.

Having been impressed with brown on Saturday I was very disappointed with front 2 (in 442) tonight. Very little movement.
Whilst I champion 442, you need the right wide players and play to the system.

Still; win is a win.

Thought we had plenty of chances to see off the game but didn't take them. DKE was fantastic, was driving forward with the ball well and looked to be building a good partnership with Kelly. Sadly it looked like DKE broke a rib, we'll see.

Credit to Loughborough who played some good stuff at times.

Think we really need to work on our game management and keeping it simple in defence. Their goal and chances seemed to come from some silly errors which need cutting out. But given it's only the second competitive game back and JG is rightly rotating the team with a lot of games coming up in a short space overtime, hopefully that'll get sorted.

yes agree with a lot of that
think midfield is looking good with the ball thought we played some good stuff
however without the ball we look to easy to get through.
could understand the need to rotate.
thought the equalizer from kelly was a superb shot.
upfront it was not Browns night Lita played his part.
so overall imo a workmanlike performance
a few positives maybe one or two things to work on.
also at some point you have to give the opposition a tad of respect no team comes to just lie down
for our gratification whoever they are.
games have to be won.
cheers

just read somewhere Rushden Diamonds 0 Newark 5 !!!!!!!!
WOW what a turn up, or maybe NOT

As highlighted below.

Where was left back (Hood I think). Problem with playing someone who usually plays in the centre.

Whats with it with the kits. Shamsi has No 12 for both games. On saturday there was no one with No. 9, and tuesday no one with no ??

Agree reference the midfield . Don't want to be over critical after a win but thought it Saturday and again last night . We look good on the ball but our midfield looks lightweight and without the ball teams are getting through us too easily . This is making us very vulnerable to the counter attack . Another opinion i've quickly developed is that Shamsi is wasted on the wing . Last night we struggled to impose ourselves on a side from the division below who conceded six at the weekend . This all changed when Shamsi was switched to to a central attacking position , once moved to a central position he frankly terrorised their defence . I think playing him out wide reduces our attacking options and i think we need to find a way to play him where he's most dangerous .

YES.

Whilst Breedons kicks look good and occasionally come off, I think a few things have to be considered.

a) Breedon is no DeBruyn.
b) The recieving player is a SL Premier player
c) The defenders will (more often than not) cut the pass out.

Basically, for that type of long (aimed) ball to work you need quality in the passer, quality in the receiver to control the pass and defenders that are half asleep.

These players are SL-Premier for a reason.

(similarly) whilst I would rather passing the ball out, why do clubs at this level (as Loughborough wanted to do last night) try play the ball out from a goal-kick in their own area. There was 2 or 3 cases last night when they did this, only for the defender to hoof up the field.
Enough premier clubs screw up doing this.

Ball through the zones, but not starting in the penalty box

They should always be a defender free for goal kicks. If not then sadly “good”.

Would love a midfielder (and Boro may have two) who are good enough and willing enough to pick the ball up deep

What has been seen all too often over last 2 seasons is the midfield bypassed. Would rather easy/safe 20-30 meter passes than 60 meter world beaters” attempted

But at this level a 60 meter pass is risky in that the receiving player has to have the ability to keep control/possession.
Too often the ball reaches the target but the defender can get in early or nick after miss-control (or better to say “lack of perfect control”.

We know what baker is capable of and Kelly has impressed in similar way..... let’s hope they can link defence and attack rather than bypass

I take issue with describing Breedon's passing to Shamsi as 'lumping it' to him. Breedon's distribution is on the whole excellent and seems to be far more considered than 'Im going to kick the ball really hard and just lump it up on the pitch'. You can see them discussing it during games quite often.

And if you read my original post I do say that it happened mainly in the first half, also it was not just Saturday, it was a tactic used far to often last season when Benbow was upfront on his own, it’s a tactic that doesn’t work and is easily dealt with by the defenders as was shown first half Saturday

My guess is little more than 50% if your lucky of your average crowd will sign up for something like this maybe only 20-30 % and £6 is only a third ? of Halifax usual admission with no match day takings , figures really don't seem enough .
