On the proviso that nothing changes between now and the game being played re fans allowed in , wouldn’t mind Newark or Worksop away

Newark away is the one that stood out to me too, although ideally I want to be coming to Nuneaton.

with the majority of National league north sides saying they don't want to start the season, tomorrow's draw could be interesting

here's an interesting one
can clubs say agree to not start a league yet compete in the fa cup ?
say we drew a national club and lost but there was no league games played
would they automatically forfeit the tie or just be allowed to solely compete in the FA cup.
im sure someone will know the rules i dont

I'm not 100% but my understanding is they will be able to play in the FA Cup , but will they want too . Playing a few qualifying games bcd in the faint hope of getting that big game down the line will probably cost them money with absolutely no guarantees . I said at the game tuesday we could now find ourselves in the third round without playing another game , only half jokinging .
PS also can't see the Trophy being played .

apparently part time clubs contracts aren't activated until a ball is kicked. If they play the FA Cup ties, the contracts activate that day.

If they aren't playing league games, they won't and don't want those contracts activating as they can't afford them.

From what I have just read they don’t want to play in the FA Cup if they are not starting their season because if they play it will constitute their season starting and they will then be obligated to pay contracted players from once they start playing

I think the Dover chairman said on radio-5 this morning that they had been paying players.

I certainly think players on full-time contracts will be paid irrespective of playing. Most clubs in national are full-time; I think Dover are.

Lot of "I think" there which sums up the certainty at the moment.

It's more the National North and South clubs that are the issues contract wise I think.

They don’t start paying players till the season starts, hence why clubs don’t want to play FA cup if their season is not starting, Dover Chairman May have been referring to full time players who say are on a two yr or more deal perhaps

just my own take here
if your not going to play league games why should you knock out clubs who are competing week in week out.
my main take is that the premiership are playing the EFL are playing below the conference are playing
something just doesn't sit right with me.
but what do i know.

It's arguably some Conf North clubs 'own fault'.

For their playoffs to be played, they had to be classed as elite sport. They protested, and became classed as elite sport.

Now, they don't want to be classed as elite sport so that fans can be allowed in.

Cake and eat it for some clubs...

The Conference clubs "complaint" is

a) Clubs at level 4 get TV revenue
b) clubs at level 7 can have 600 spectators.

Chester chairman said on Radio5 this morning that the "elite" status was imposed on them and not requested.
The rational for "elite" being that the players main/only source of income was football.

Being charitable to north/south I guess as this was true for national clubs rules had to be applied to all clubs in the conference control.

My take on it is that if we draw a Conference North clubs we will get a bye into the next round. Won't be viable to keep a squad of players just to play FA CUP games. I also think the FA Trophy will be just a step 3 & 4 competition this year. Might have a chance of winning it.o

here's hoping then
if ive learnt one thing about the football authorities over the years its common sense and
fair decision making do not always go hand in hand.
