Not sure the players believe in what they are being asked to do, also yet again we have a lop sided squad, no right back, loads of midfielders and not much upfront, Manager is responsible and either has to sort it quickly or go !!

Losing to Barwell in a league game. A club who used to enjoy a friendly against us.

Out the cup to lower league side, in form or not.

Relegation zone at third level of non league for on the field stuff rather than off field stuff. So not sure we’ve ever been so poor ‘on the pitch’? Southern Midlands in the 90s was step 3. Even when shit we were mid table step 3. Step 4 08/09 was due to off the pitch stuff.

Low.

I’m surprised, because I genuinely thought we looked good two weeks ago and we were well and truly heading in the right direction.

Likewise, early indications about this squad were positive. I still think that individually we have players who possess real ability (in the case of Goddard exceptional potential). So, out of interest I stood near the dugout to see what the coaching dynamic was like.

There's a guy with a folder who looks like he's working on some complex game plan, there's Lavery who is up and at 'em lads and JG who just wants to get it forward (regardless of whether there's anyone to receive it).

Thus, Breeden's long punts are applauded, rash, pointless tackles encouraged and deep midfield (positioning 'cover' - against Barwell (no disrespect) deemed essential.

I'm afraid JG was out thought by his old apprentice today and his team outplayed for the whole of the first half and most of the second.

Of course, we'll be there Tuesday, and can only hope the penny drops soon that even at this level, the teams that maintain their shape, break with pace and get wide behind defences, generally come out on top.

Am I the only one who cannot understand why TB is the captain?

Interesting.

Chap with clipboard is latest coach (how many are needed).
He was manager or coach at Coleville last season I believe.

Football has moved on - even in this league, but not JG.

His style is not as bad as I feared but it’s “get ball forward ASAP” and at this level makes it not 50/50 but 80/20 in favour of defence due to ability of receiving players

I feel the opposite - not surprised with today's result. Barwell by far the better side, especially 1st half, Guy Hadland's team did well today.

A few people said after the Bury game that we would lose today and I agreed with them.

Defeats with depressing regularity nowadays and we look a poor side. Poor discipline aswell.

Relegation battle on the way?

Not only does JG not know his strongest XI, he does not know the strongest position of his players.

He does know his plan. Play direct football, with a lone striker even though its not worked for 2 seasons. What do they say about signs of insanity :)

8 games played - 4 right backs.

Messers Shamsri, Edmunds and DKE have all played wide right.

A 36 year old striker (who has played 12 games in last two seasons (I think) has started every game.

When winning, and down to 10 men you take off a fit and fast striker and stick with a non-mobile striker (why did Shamsri run down the tunnel when subbed.... I thought it was a team game).

With respect this Nuneaton Borough is not a big club. A previous Nuneaton Borough was a big club .
This Nuneaton Borough is little more than a Mid Comb side like Nuneaton Griff. In fact if certain circumstances were to occur then those two sides could soon be competitors in the same division.

The most shocking thing for me is the lack of team spirit, total abscence of midfield, no tracking or tacking of opposition just a load of minor late fouls which lead to a shed load of bookings from a fussy ref. (for both teams)
A complete shambles in the end I actually didnt care when they scored the winner, it was a great finish from impossible angle but he should never have been alloed to get there.
Barwell simply wanted it more, far more.

Certainly agree with your last line . Barwell looked far more committed and up for it . It's only been a couple of weeks since they lost 5-0 at home to Alvechurch yet they looked confident to have a game plan and to want to win . They also possessed Brady Hickey a player who was considered not good enough for us but was the best player on the pitch .

I have no doubt the club won't be relegated (if such things take part).

If fact, I expect the "we can get into the playoffs; we still have teams around us to play" quotes come out.

If, somehow the club did get promoted, then what then - A total rebuild of the playing staff.

What also (IMO) certain is that JG will remain as manager and irrespective of results the style will remain the same.
That to me is depressing.
JG seems to be bigger than the club at the moment, with a few defending him come-what-may. I often see on boro-chat "come down and support JG" type messages.

No one has criticised what he set in place off the field. Little doubt it saved the club BUT one could argue Hawkins and Smurfwait did the same, and I know one of those two would love to be manager.

What I can’t understand is why JG seems determined to persist with a playing system that clearly isn’t working? Are the various coaches just “Yes” men? Or do we not have players who could implement more creative tactics? NB - This is a genuine query because my only source of info is comments posted on here.

Also, who would appoint the new manager and what would they be looking for ?

Cant see him not being involved in playing side.
He does seem to attract people on the commercial side / his "fan base".
He does impress me on how he conducts himself.

So the formula is "which is bigger"
Results or off-the-field or entertainment...... there is a balance.

Having said that, has his "off the field" responsibilities/expectations been reduced now there is a commercial manager.... it most certainly should be.

If results don’t improve though that will have a knock on effect on commercial activity ie lower attendance, fewer people having meals in the boardroom before games etc

I disagree.

My perception is that the boardroom etc is used by the same 50-100 people rotating all the time.

I think our boardroom/corporate is more of a ‘Jimmy’s lads’ section (no criticism) than local businesses having days out.
