Excellent performance (but not result)

Really not sure why Osborne was sent off. Looked a yellow at very worse.
After that they had all possession with their no 4 and 8 dominating without really threatening.
2nd half was all boro with only selfish play, bad finishing, luck and last gasp defending meaning no goals were scored.
For some reason they took off No-8 and it made it more one-way.
They broke and scored.

Osbourne had his foot high , caught their player as he went to head the ball, 2-3 yrs ago probably just a yellow these days refs always going to give a red

Think we often struggle at Redditch. I can remember Timmy Smithers having to play in goal there - think we lost that day.

You know me.
I am hardly a JG fan BUT today boro were by far and away the better team despite being a player down for most of the game.
Even teams at the top of the league lose games - this defeat would be seen by many as "just one of those games" if boro were top.

Not happy they lost but can’t criticise the performance with 10 men, they gave it a real go

We may have played well for 45 mins again for only the second time this season but the stats dont lie.
Discipline is shocking we are a pretty poor team and the manager is pretty poor.

You win nothing by playing well and losing all the time. I want wins wins wins ugly by hook and crook I really do not care and of course the occasional loss now and again which happens to the best teams .But at the moment its loss loss loss with the occasional win been like that for far to long now NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Re: 2-0 down

Why is there a difference between trying to play attractive football (and losing) or playing horrible football (and losing)?
Horrible direct football does not guarantee results (as can be seen since JG came in)
Defeats in the past have been criticised by people there - I don’t think anyone criticised what they saw yesterday. Since JG came in I suspect that was the first defeat that was “accepted” by all (other than just his band if loyal fans)
What I don’t understand is.... JG has been in management for 20+ years, but only now has put a team out that tries to keep possession by not hoofing it.
Sometime passing the ball is too easy, but yesterday from kick off there was also a purpose.

Neither pro or against JG here, and not having a go at you at all.
But how do you know how JG sides have played for the last 20 years? How often have you watched them? I recall his Adders side with Tom Bates pulling the strings against us playing quite nice football in the Boro, Leam, Chasetown, Atherstone season in the Midland Division.
Not saying you are wrong at all, but just wondered.

It’s not the first time, or the last, we will lose at Redditch. Better Boro sides than the current one have been beaten by Redditch.

Delighted my @RedditchUtd boys managed to get the 3 points yesterday. We got away with that @NuneatonBoroFC are a top side with some outstanding individuals. Harsh red card changed the game and thought we really struggled against 10 men. #stayinourlane #keepworkinghard

i wasn't there but was told we looked a good side on the day.
played very well and maybe we were a bit hard done by.
there's a long way to go yet
the club has been transformed by JG unless people in the know are talking through their backsides
he knows im certain that he has made mistakes. who hasn't
show me someone who reckons he hasn't and i'l show you a bare faced liar
what i will say is there are those who learn by them and those that just go out and do the same again
lets give him some breathing space before we write him off.
then if he does come up short he can have no complaints, agreed.
BTW im not by any stretch of the imagination a member of the JG fan club.
i take as i find. good or bad.

I take as I find too and I find JG lacking, really lacking.
Seriously he has only ever won some leagues 2 levels and more below this one.
I'll just repeat, his stats for us say it all.
Yeah I'm a bad fan for not going every match, really sorry everyone.

i dont go every match pod
just to put things into perspective
ignore the relegation season as it was all about the club
even you surely accept that fact
so what was our record last season under him up to lockdown.
im sure some anorak will tell us. P? W? D? L? F? A? pts ?
and one point even the BEST managers struggle to have a win ratio of over 50pc.
many of the so called top ones are in the 40pc win ratio.
lastly your entitled to your opinions and you might well be proven right
but lets give the bloke a fair crack of the whip thats all im saying

From my armchair perspective it seems that the criticism of JG is based on a belief that we have a set of players who can actually play football If allowed to di so but are being asked to play in a more direct way, and are not comfortable with that. Is that a fair summary?

Re: 2-0 down

im afraid more than ever we live in the blame society.
the has to be a scapegoat
managers / players / chairmen come and go
you have successful periods and you have downturns.
EVERY club goes through these times
ok you might have a few the richest in the world who can maintain endless success
but for most its a continuous never ending cycle of mixed fortunes of promotion-relegation-stagnation
people go on about the good old days but conveniently forget the shit years.
and dont tell me they didnt happen cus i can remember them as my first game was the 51/2 season.
and no it wasnt the mighty Boro.
how many on here 3 yrs ago were cursing Lee Thorn for running the club down
think he ended up about 400k out of pocket give or take
dont sound much when its not your money does it
JG came in, saved the club and in truth smartened the place up, something many were calling LT for not doing
short memories for some
will he be as successful in the managers roll ?
some have already decided. i admit i dont know
i would have sacked Wilkin three times!!! and look where he took us
thats how much i know.

Re: 2-0 down

Not sure we do, once everyone is fit we have a decent midfield, it’s defence that’s a problem, no right back, if Osbourne is back permanently he is very good in centre of defence so that helps there.

yes accept that fact about the RB particularly
who are the midfield ball winners, genuine question btw.
i ask that because when we have the ball we seem ok its when we dont that teams appear to brush us aside.
hence the defence is imo often left exposed

we need someone imo to get it for them.

With what's going on around the world lately,I don't really know how footballers/sports people can concentrate on their pastimes.
My own opinion, for what it's worth,is that I just can't see this season going on for much longer,at the lower levels.

I know it’s not quite the same, but I had a good summer at cricket, because for those 6 hours or so on a Saturday it was a nice distraction from the world.
I would imagine our footballers are the same when the are on the pitch, generally focused on what they are doing.
I do agree in the grand scheme of things it’s not important mind.
