Any idea/heard rumour what the national are going to do with them?

Refuse to play; cant really be relegated as no promotion; can’t really be expelled as no replacement.
League already playing with one less.

I they have ten games in hand on most clubs.

£40k fine but they won't be relegated but will start next season on -12 points . The fine is to reflect the financial advantage they have gained over other clubs by refusing to play .

They aren’t playing because they can’t afford to so slapping them with a £40k fine is only going to cause them more financial problems

The problem is a lot of the other clubs can't afford too but have had to take out loans and generally run up debts to continue . Dover have avoided this by refusing to play , you might say there just being sensible but they play in a league where the majority voted to continue . Dover are also a club who are not self funding basically one mans money is funding them and there a feeling amongst other clubs that if relegation was still an option he would be finding the money . There's not much sympathy for them amongst the other clubs .

Could argue they are being sensible and ensuring the club survive, where as other clubs taking on debt to finish the season could be storing up problems for the future by taking on dept they can’t repay.

He only announced they were not able / prepared to carry on once relegation was taking off the table . The only reason they can't pay there way is because the owner artificially funds the budget . If making sensible financial decisions was so important why don't they regularly live within their means .

Agree they should live within their means but taking on more debt to continue the season is not going to be beneficial to most of those clubs that have had to do it.

I dont know the ins and out, but it makes a mockery of the league (and thats not really anyones fault).

Dover have to pay £40,000 for not playing BUT what's to stop other clubs releasing all non-contract players and play kids instead.

are Dover getting any financial support I believe other clubs are?

Given what it seems it costs to run a National club I suppose £40,000 is not a great amount.

think we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg at the moment
i can see a lot of clubs drastically cutting their budgets come the future.
debts dont just disappear as we know rather to well.
might be wrong but i reckon a lot of players will be feeling an icy wind
far too many will be chasing a lost cause in terms of a pro lifestyle.
as ever one day it will come out in the wash......

I would think they will be put into Ryman Premier. That league would play with 23. The National League would play with only 22 same as North and South Divisions.
Numbers would be adjusted at the end of 2021/22 season(if we get a full season).

Haven't North/South been trying to increase numbers to 24 for the last 2 seasons?

Currently South only have 21 due to knock on effects of Bury.

This is going to take a few years for everything to sort out.

What amazes me is that no clubs appear to have gone into admin since this started (Macclesfield were likely to anyway).

It's highly likely they won't be in the top division next season . There's talk that by not playing there gaining an unfair advantage ( financially ) over sides who have carried on , see the article i posted on Boreham Wood . Where they will be placed , talk of anywhere between step 2 & 4 , is currently unknown as is who will replace them and indeed fill the place left by Macclesfield .

I believe they intend to reform at the lowest level.
I think they will be playing at original ground.

Robbie Savage is involved.
The "plans" seem good. Building from the bottom.

They are no fan owned.

Good luck to them; sounds good.....but don't they all.

Thanks. Boro dropped so much I don't keep abreast of the big leagues.

I see there are only 21 clubs in Conf-South so that "fits".

Whilst I never really see them as a FL club, look at Barnet (remember the cost of their games?)
2 points off bottom, but Dover have 9 games in hand!!!!!
That said, they (With KL and Weymouth) will probably gain from Covid as losing has no consequences.

Sutton look good for promotion....... will have to dig up pitch.

Its a mess.

Clubs in the North & South who we're happy to keep playing proposed setting up a national competition to play to the end of this season giving two promotion places to the top division ( replacing Macc & Dover ) .
This was today rejected by the league .

Seems a compromise in exceptional circumstances.
I wonder why rejected.
Edit
https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/fa-alliance-committee-statement-national-league-re-65290

"integrity of the NL System"....... mmm.....what does that mean

b. Consideration was also given to an alternative sporting solution at Step 2 in line with a proposal submitted by certain Step 2 Clubs that wished to continue playing. The Alliance Committee rejected the proposal, and any alternative, in the interest of the integrity of the National League System. Further reasons for this decision will be communicated directly to clubs in due course.

It's because a vote was held in which the majority voted to end the season . The 18 clubs who are now saying they want to carry on should have put some sort of alternative plan in place to be considered at the time of the vote but they didn't and the vote was purely carry on without fans or stop and thats what was voted on . Now there looking to change the rules because it didn't go there way .
