Southern League to begin on Saturday 14th August for the 2021-22 season
Don't understand why its so late . With the problems we've had last couple of seasons and the fact that we could easily have further spikes come the winter it seems to me we're wasting two or three weeks when they could be getting games played . I appreciate the players need to get fit again but they don't need a break they have hardly played in the last twelve months .
I can see changes, particularly in cup games and particularly to satisfy what big clubs want.
I suspect replays in all cups will end.
More games will be televised live.
Seems spot on to me to be honest.
Gradually get normality back, open things up totally mid June, see how things go, start training, play a few friendlies then back to it with proper crowds etc.
Sooner it start then than start, then be delayed etc etc.
Also don’t believe there will be further lockdowns and even if there’s a spike in cases, the vulnerable at least, and probably all will be vaccinated and there’s a decline in hospitalisation and death. It’ll be learning to live with it by August and through the winter.
I agree with you. I think we will have a normal season. People will still catch COVID but the majority of people will have been vaccinated. We don’t stop the season when the flu starts. Hope you enjoy a good cricket season too. Cannot go to County Games till May 19th
Thanks Dougie, first club games from April 17th all being well.
Hoping to watch Warwickshire at York too.
That is when our local cricket starts too.
Training before the end of June then playing six weeks of friendlies from the start of July seems excessive to me but time will tell . Am looking forward to getting back to some live stuff tv football don't really do it for me in the same way .
