Match preview - Boro have played Peterborough - two defeats

https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/nuneatonboroughfc/news/preview--nuneaton-borough-vs-peterborough-sports-league-2651069.html

Will the game go ahead? Two games cancelled (Tamworth vs Hitchen; Banbury vs Biggleswade) in SLP and apparently lots elsewhere.

If Stourbridge beat Rushall tonight, then Boro will be propping the league up.

With it
* pissing it down
* messi / City / PSG on tv (and Porto vs Liverpool)
* they not well supported club
* the distance
* Boro poor form
* Boro poor entertainment (will be interesting to see what makes them tick)
* dissolution in fan base
* evening game (for some reason attracts less for routine games)

I predict a very low crowd (hardly pushing neck out on that one) …… but I will be there (probably)….. it’s in the blood and other than tv (not a fan of CL group matches) and nothing better to do.

Does not sound like any new signings. Guess the returning injured must be lira and/or Benbow

Bodes well when he says we will have to “put a lot of bodies behind the ball or they could run riot” nothing like being positive and believing in your team!!

I reckon if he'd said that they would go all out attack that this would be the wrong approach for you too?

I’m not arguing, but I do agree with Stone Ragma.

At least make it sound like we may try and win the game.

I don’t care if they are top, it’s Peterborough bloody Sports.

Saying we are gonna stick bodies behind the ball against a club like that is not gonna get the crowds in on a wet Tuesday night.

Its not like we've got the best defenders to be able sit back and defend all game hoping for a counter attack either…

Once they've got one goal and we stick to that game plan i think they could run riot.

I loved the idea of having more bodies behind the ball, we only play with one up as it is.
Best we can hope for is 0-0 then.

No it wouldn’t I would rather him be positive, if he doesn’t have any belief how are the players supposed to, lose trying to win rather than lose trying not to lose

Good old Danny Glover keeps us off the bottom . Would need a six goal defeat tonight to change that .

dont know about conceding ... SIX....... AT HOME...... to a team in the same league
IF we did it would be an UTTER DISGRACE. imo
im expecting a defeat but im also expecting us to at least have a go
shock results happen every week in football hence im pinning my faith on that fact.
just to add its sad days when w have to talk in these terms playing at this level
moving on >
when Jimmy took charge we all knew it was all about survival..i had no problem with that.

however you cant live alone on those sentiments forever as an excuse.

ive already pinned my flag to the mast on this one anyway

ie. until we have accountability we will continue to decline .....a sad state of affairs but its what i think.

a beleaguered UTB

I would not rule it out - Hasn't there been fairly recent occasions of Arsenal & Man United doing something like that.

Lets not forget Villa putting 7 past Champions Liverpool...... so there is hope :)

Peterborough's only defeat so far was to Leiston a week after our only win , over Leiston . Of course we could win it's just likely we won't .

to put yourself in the firing line with football results is a risky business
any fool can tell you what they want......... with hindsight.
you only have to put the tv on.... the media experts can tell you everything someone should have said or done

Loads of games being called off all round the country due to the fuel shortages . Nearly all the Isthmian league fixtures have gone already . It's not just a case of traveling from Peterborough to Nuneaton and back but the players need to travel beforehand and after and many live a fair way away .
