The next month or so.

By MJNB12/10 10:17Tue Oct 12 10:17:07 2021

I'm not going to say we are in a false position or anything like, BUT, analyzing things realistically, we have currently played ALL of the top 7, including 5 of them AWAY. We've played 8 of the top 11. We've only played 3 sides in the bottom half.

Our run of fixtures ahead is:

Lowestoft- 16th
Stratford- 11th (edited on Oct 19th as now moved to November 30th)
Redditch- 12th
Alvechurch- 8th
Bromsgrove- 10th
Stroubridge- 18th
St Ives- 17th (edited as now taking place in December)
Needham Market- 20th

That's between now and November 16th. Maybe after that run of games is the time to truly judge, as things could look a lot different. Not defending the current position, but maybe fixtures haven't been favourable and we have a chance to really get some results together in the next month.

11 points from the 6 games. Not bad in isolation, but shows how bad the season has been when we have 15 from 18 games.

I just can't imagine we are gonna just be dreadful ALL season at this level of football. The tide has to turn, I've nothing to base that on, but it simply has to. At some point, I believe we will have a small winning run. That set of games looks a chance for that to happen.

I believe so MJNB.

I have convinced myself that we will avoid relegation but don't ask me why...as you have rightly pointed out, we have had a very tough start to the season, as it has turned out, fixture wise.

It wasn't a tough start to the season when fixtures were published.
It has only become a tough start to the season because we have fundamentally not improved the team and fell so far behind the pack.
We are not in a false position given the last three part seasons.
The whole team situation is now beyond parody.

It may not have been tough when published, but after 11 games, you should start to see who the 'good teams' are and we've played the majority of those.

Look, I've been as embarrassed and negative as most about this whole sorry situation, but just trying to look for some light at the end of the tunnel.

Yep;
1st 3/4 season was at best "average"
2nd 1/4 season was at best "poor"
3rd 1/4 season was at best "terrible"

but, the manager remains.

As things stand - its worse than the relegation season and JG was given a gimme on that

The problem is we haven't been nearly good enough so far . When we play a decent side they sweep us aside without breaking sweat , when play someone not so good we still lose . The improvement we need on what we've shown so far isn't just a small step or a bit of luck it's a chasem .

Not disagreeing with you one bit mate, as you've seen the games and I haven't, yet, but sometimes improvements needed look bigger than they actually are.

Sometimes, when playing sport, you can be so devoid of confidence/form that you start worrying/play not to make a mistake rather than trying to do something positive.

Scenario:

I started my 2021 cricket season badly, scores of 8,5 and 5. I was shot of confidence, didn't know where my runs were coming from, batting simply to not get out rather than score. 4th game- I edged two through the slips early on, a fielder dived over the ball giving me a boundary rather than a single, I was on 12 in no time and went on to score 27. Next 3 weeks I got 35,39,35. Consistent.

All it can take is a goalkeeping error, an own goal, a deflection, and Boro could be 3-0 up, get confidence, play with freedom, win, and take that in to the next game, and the next etc. Those poor players could suddenly look great, just through their mindset. It does happen.

MJNB.
My cricket career was shortened considerably by me having a terrible captain.
He persisted in putting me in to bat in the middle of a hat-trick !

I wouldn't necessarily say positive, as I am not fully confident we will beat that many of those sides, as we showed by losing to Hitchin.

BUT, they are more winnable than the likes of Banbury and Royston away back to back. We have to beat some of these lower sides, especially at home.

If we don't pick up at least 50% of the points on offer from that run of games we're likely to find ourselves well adrift and the saying down by Christmas is likely to be close to a reality for us .
