It was said last week at Banbury he had pulled a ham string. They can take up to a month to heal. If you come back too soon they can go again. I wonder if he was rushed back too soon last week as we were desperate for strikers. Another 2 weeks might have made a difference.

That's not fair Ken...red card!

Dougie said up to a month to heal & I just pointed out that there are different grades of hamstring pulls & the physio would know what grade it is...

Two of my mates have had hamstring tears in the last few months...the first playing walking football & the second standing in the sea with his young grandson, turning sideways against a wave.

The specialist told him that you are in big trouble if the tear is so severe that it tears about an inch of the hamstring away from the bone at the top of your leg.

Both of their legs were black...a grade 2 tear I think he said.

They are both in their mid-sixties.

I'll appeal against the red card.....

However have noted the possibility of a hamstring tear from turning whilst in the sea and will take adequate precautions.

Why? I'm 68 yo and will be with my Grandchildren in the sea at IoW next week.

Good post John....lol

They were in Spain on holiday, trying to avoid all of this red list quarantine hokey cokey & he was in the sea with his 5-year old grandson playing about, when he suddenly noticed a big wave & tried to turn sideways into it...too late!...the next minute he's being helped off the beach in agony by a paramedic, while his wife is splitting her sides! lol

One of them played on into his early forties. He played for top Nuneaton Saturday & Sunday amateur league sides.

The other was on the books at Luton Town as a youth team player, until he got a bad injury & was jettisoned...the league teams are brutal when it comes to getting rid of young players.

Did you see the documentary about it on TV recently.

Both of them are still very fit.

Statements like that do you no favours. Totally out of touch with Level 7 football.

For anyone to pay a fee for a player is pretty much unheard of at this level.
What ever Boro' paid was probably minimum.

No one at this level is going to pay a fee with such a injury record.

Plenty good enough (maybe higher) for this level and could get us of this mess right now if fit
However not fit enough and seems very disruptive moaning at teammates.
On reflection maybe not worth a contract, but if he applied himself better I believe he could destroy this league no problem

how long is a piece of string mate
we need recruits for sure
thing is and im not blowing JGs trumpet by any means here
i do like to give anyone a fair hearing
IF he can learn from his mistakes and lets be honest he has a fair few to his name
then he can become a better manager.
he has in my humble opinion done a hell of a lot for this club off the field.
im not going to knock that but he needs to measure up as team manager.
believe me nothing would give me more pleasure than to see him succeed.
realistically he has one hell of a mountain to climb.
the ball is in his court. i wish him well
if and i say if he does not ultimately measure up i just hope he will step down
there us no disgrace in life to attempt something and fail if you have tried your best.

JG certainly seems to have a lot of positivity about him as a person...(I have never met him).

Can you remember the problems he had to solve very quickly, to put a team together for a midweek game that Barwell were due to play at Whitby?

In no time he had signed players on from local clubs so that they could fulfil the fixture.

I don't think he will ever back away from a challenge.

A question now...

Am I right in saying that most of JG's time as the manager at Barwell was spent in the Northern Premier League?

I think it's fair to say that the NPL play a different type of football to clubs in the SPL...a more robust style.

Do you think he may be struggling to adjust to SPL football?

May have been true pre-alliance but football is totally different now.

They have tended to play in a particular style...SPL being more of a pure football style by comparison.

We couldn't beat an NPL side for about 10 years, if we were drawn against them in either the FA Cup or the FA trophy!

I just think that Benbow is one of those players!

Jack Wilshere featured on SKY Sports News last night. He is back at Arsenal training with the first team & doing some community coaching. He says he doesn't expect to be playing anytime soon but he is working very hard to regain his fitness.

Another very frustrating & talented player is Ross Barkley.

Maybe we have been unlucky with Benbow but to me he just looks like another Wilshere/Barkley type of problem to the manager.
