I cannot believe that you keyboard warriors can put down 2 men willing to put money into the club without even knowing them or hearing what they have to say.
If there is a new club it will need investment and I have no doubt the council will not help us.
I will go with an open mind and then decide if they are right for the club.

There is of course a faction that does not want a new broom to sweep clean. They want a bit of leeway to allow a way for the bad old days to return/continue.
I am prepared to see what everyone has to offer, but I am not investing anything into a football club so my opinion will matter not one jot.

they need to learn from past mistakes and never repeat them. Eg - going bust/in money trouble nearly every 5 years. Weve been one of the worst ran non league clubs since even being at MP. Been problems after problems

I just can’t trust anyone now sadly

Happening to many times - businessman / people who are boro through and through / people only here for the money / people only here to try and make money

I also can’t see how starting another club will be any different when the same people will just be circling again

Plus history is sort of showing Nuneaton can’t sustain a club above Griff level so why not just let Griff thrive and have a go - sad state of affairs

Have to agree with you. Gone have the days of reliable non-league football. Now we have the jumped-up imitations of the Premier League even at our level. Out on the pitch at 1.45,doing an hour of warming-up. Coming out side by side following the match officials, lining up for handshakes etc etc etc. So far up their own backsides it’s not true.
And just to add. The typical Borough sides of the sixties and seventies would blast the present lot into orbit.

I fully concur Barwell.
To me 3 failures in 30 odd years tells me a non league club in Nuneaton at the higher level is just not viable.
Too much damage done for me too and not fussed now unless good people with big money come in.
Two chancers with peanuts to spend will only maintain the status quo.

It’s not just that for me it’s the …. What’s the point that has really got to me

All those 100s and 100s of games watching them from when Neale started the club, all the things I have missed watching boro, all the money —- yeah it was great at the time but now in the complete picture it was a complete waste of time and I don’t get the money back or the time

Sort of why I don’t want to do it again watch Boro go up the leagues to be messed around off the pitch to inevitably go bust and end up back where they were or worse —- what’s the point

Sorry for only being born in 1985 rather than 1965 and only watching since 1993.

I agree with what a lot of what BarwellBoro says, I’ve wasted silly amounts of time and money on Boro- particularly 2006 to 2014 I’d say- at the detriment to family, relationships, career.

Really have to ask what is the point. It’s just a game.

And people are more than entitled to say it’s not for them anymore, without you comparing them to people who’ve watched for 60 years and saying we have to give it a chance etc.

People can chose to be watch or be interested or not without judgement.

I have been watching for 68 years. Although you have watched them for less time than me I agree with what you say. I don’t know if at 77 years old I will be bothered th watch football played on what will be only a little better than parks pitches. When we reformed as Nuneaton Town in 2008 we only went down 2 leagues. Don’t think we will be as fortunate this time. Could be playing Inkberro Knowle and Kenilworth Wardens. I feel we have to here what the people who want to start a new club have to say but it probably won’t be for me.

People have opinions. Others may disagree. That’s basically the definition of a forum.

Thing is …. We don’t know facts and then people leak things for some reason BUT these leaks are not necessarily accurate.

And these are people who have followed the club for decades that feel “enough is enough”.

Rumours again.

I thought there was two.

So an ambiguous announcement of a “fans forum” but we have to trust rumours.

Non of this (including threads on here that (on the face of it) seem factual (but probably not) certainly does not give me confidence that whoever leaking information and/or want a new club are actually capable of doing it.

But you have presented rumours as fact.

When those involved present their plans then people can form opinions and question them.

People came m out saying DA Capital were the saviours because they had been involved at Reading so had loads of money - then there was a neutral tweet. Others were more skepical - particularly after looking into the background.

So, you are not the coop or those presenting but someone else.

Why dont those presenting (or the coop) make the announcement themselves rather than Chinese whispers?

A moment ago you said "rumoured investors (now its a fact) now way they are using you as a go between?
I quote
"Rumoured investor a) - the ones trying to start a club"

Really more evidence that these people dont have a cats chance if this the way they operate.

Two businessmen from the Birmingham area who have exploring various opportunities to start a club, and have chosen Nuneaton.

They have no previous connection with the Boro. They've asked people not to share there name yet, so I am not going to be the first to splash it publicly, but you probably wouldn't recognise the names anyway.

Hopefully they will reveal their identities next week, otherwise it will be the football equivalent of the masked singer 😂

That should be very effective in holding the new Pheonix club back.

Very encouraging for any potential new owners, whether they be from out of town, or from within our town.

A group of people, who will never be able to agree, with no capital to invest, wanting a say in the running of the Club but expecting other investors, wanting to see a return on their investment, to pay for their shortcomings!

Try presenting that as a benefit to the funding Institutions!

We live in the real world!

The harsh world of commercial reality!

The Co-op/CIC would be better advised to enter a team in the Coventry Alliance & spend a few years learning the ropes, learning how to take full responsibility for running a football club, with all of challenges & pitfalls that entails, IMO that would make more sense!

That's perhaps best & take with you the small group of people who want to form committees/working parties to have a say individually, with the protection of being in a group, without taking any responsibiliity for their individual/collective actions & who can individually walk away at any time!

With no money to invest.

It'd be nice for them to announce who they are beforehand and not expect me to turn up like it's some weird version of blind date.
They can stick their meeting and their new club up their arses if they continue this secrecy malarkey whilst "leaking" info to some lacky on here.

3 days ago from coop site.

Apologies for the delay in issuing a statement, but we were called a short notice for a meeting with the two investors who Ian Cook has previously mentioned as wanting to buy Liberty Way. For legal reasons, we have agreed not to mention them by name.

They are already in the process of registering a Phoenix club which they intend to run as a private limited company. They recognise the past errors that have been made leading to the demise of the club and appear to have realistic short-term objectives.

We asked them to provide a plan for how they would involve supporters in the running of the club and expressed the concerns supporters will have based on previous experience.

They have agreed to hold a fans forum within the next fortnight to present their plans and longer-term vision to the supporters.
We call on all those with an interest in establishing the 'Boro' back and playing in the heart of the town, being run sustainably with supporters at the forefront, to unite and come together.

More updates to follow when we are in a position to provide them.

I was told about forum at about 5pm last night, but the organiser was not the coop...........No need to share until fact and my "source" may have got it wrong.

They can hold as many forums as they want but they need to properly understand first of all, the process involved with financing, designing & constructing a football stadium & the demands of NBBC's Planning Department, from first principles.

Without that detailed knowledge, they will waste a lot of time & money.

Yep - the whole issue - for me the issue is whether a football club in Nuneaton is viable after 3 failures in around 30 years?
Only an absolutely massive 7 figure investment, minimum could give is what we all want.
As VS always says though:
Let’s wait and see.

It all depends what your ambitions are . It's obvious a football club in a town the size of Nuneaton is viable if you run it properly & sensibly but at what level .

I would start off with a figure of £5 million in mind, financed over a 10-year period.

Then produce a more detailed Initial Cost Risk Assessment.

Following on from that, produce a Target Cost Plan.

This can then be expanded, by producing an Initial Project Development Programme, which can be priced.

This will give a visual spending profile, which can be superimposed in graphical format.

That could then be submitted to the chosen funding Institution.

Once finance is secured in principle, start to develop the Stadium design & engage in the Planning process, by employing an experienced Planning Consultant to liaise with NBBC Planners.

The show would then be on the road!

I’m sure they may see this but it’s very different to what Luke S is portraying.

And the supposed 106 pot definitely doesn’t exist!

Oh and they are t holding any forums or involved in this whatsoever.

A lot of daft people adding 2 and 2 and getting 5.

It’s a completely separate matter to all this!

The people that need to be convinced first of all, as to whether anyone's plans can be delivered, are NBBC's Planning Department, more particularly the Chief Planning Officer.

It is on the recommendation of the CPO, that a Planning Permission is granted by the Planning Committee.

As an aside, what plans do the Co-op/CIC initiative have to present, as an alternative?

I agree (I think because I am totally confused).

There appears to be a hole with respect to 3G pitches for the town and a football club may help this and/or get benefit in the long term.

I would imagine any plan, if accepted, would take years.

The council could put 3G pitches in many locations with or without a football team.

Off topic - I believe every senior school should have easy access to such facilities and this should be at least part paid for by the FA.

My local school has been totally rebuilt (to exact same capacity as the old one), but no new sporting facilities; not even a new sports hall - I find both shocking.

Sport England.

As I mentioned previously, Cov's new artificial pitch at the Butts cost £600k, if true?

It is superb!

There will a Coop meeting on Monday 29th (venue and location TBC).

The purpose is to expand the Coop member numbers and to form a working group to scrutinise any plans but forward and, if those plans are deemed by members not to be the way forward, to draw up alternative plans.

I hope therefore to see many of the regular contributors to this forum there.

They are looking to cherry pick ideas then & use other people's hard work as a catalyst for their own proposal, if indeed they have the technical/financial capability of delivering their own proposal in the first place?

So, you are representing the coop?
Are you on the board?
Have you been asked Why have the coop delayed?
What is their reason for delaying (I may know, but not for me to say)

Do the coop/Trust not have confidentiality and collective responsibility anymore where releases (particularly things as important now) have to be passed and checked before presented?

Were you at the meeting at Bermuda last Oct?
