One for LukeS - Pitch size & location

By VoR24/1 13:16Wed Jan 24 13:16:35 2024

When considering your 'overlaid LW plans', make sure you adjust the pitch dimensions to 105m long x 68m wide...the UEFA standard.

That is critical, because the location of the pitch will form the basis for the setting out of the Stadium structures.

NOTE:

The available LW pitch area is designed to also suit rugby union pitch size requirements.

So in theory both ends can be closer to the pitch.

There is an access path required around the pitch perimeter.

The width needs to be calculated in accordance with the Green Guide, based on Stand capacity, directions of travel, escape distances & given criteria for time of escape.

That's what governs the distance the stands are away from the pitch & whether the stands are front-loaded, rear loaded or both?

All this is conjuncture.

There is no football club and the council have to do whatโ€™s best for the people (particularly juniors) of Nuneaton.

If this โ€œone pitchโ€ is acceptable, I donโ€™t understand why the money is not better spent at the pingles (200 meters away?). It has all the facilities now, just no 3G pitch.

A 5000-capacity Stadium design on that site will need all of the structures on all 4 sides of the ground to extend the full length of the pitch, to achieve that capacity requirement.

They usually start & finish according to the pitch dimensions.

2 long sides - 105m.

2 short sides - 68m.

Until you have correctly positioned the pitch & the structures, you will not know how much space is available?

Liberty Way's design capacity was 6,000 and it only never reached that due to the failure to build the planned stand on on the river side of the ground, and a slightly scaled back terrace.

So it looks like Gala Field has space to spare.

I agree.

Gala Field has plenty of room, if it is used correctly & money is not wasted unnecessarily.

I believe the only reason that Gala Field was not pursued previously, is that NBBC wanted a new running track incorporated in the new Stadium design & that wasn't possible, because there wasn't sufficient plan area on site.

A new running track is no longer required, we already have one...the Pingles Stadium.

NBBC Planners have been here before!

I cannot reiterate this enough. The Pingles Stadium is the domain of the Principal Leaseholder,Nuneaton Harriers Running Club. They have an estimated 100 years left on their lease from NBBC. An xG pitch would take away their vital ingredient of their purposeโ€ฆfield and track events.
Nuneaton Griff FC have,I think a rolling lease from NBBC of,probably, ten years.
The scope for changing the landscape of the Stadium is close to zero.

Barwell Trust's 4G pitch supports two senior sides (Barwell FC & AFC Hinckley), plus a host of junior sides.

There is no reason why the Griff could do the same if the Gala Field became reality. It would increase there scope for progression, should they wish.

maybe this time if we ever get a chance to build a new ground, is to actually build the main stand first plus all the facilities which can be used on a non match day to increase revenue

Yes, that is because the Main Stand is sited on the western side of the Stadium, with its back in to the prevailing westerlies in Winter.

The cheap seats are usually on the eastern side, where the Sun is in your eyes!

PERFECT!

Let the good times roll!

Edit:

The Main Stand needs to be sited on the footpath side.

Possibly a narrow side on the Wem Brook side?

The FA allow for 3-sided Stadium construction, if necessary.

Make sure you site the pitch correctly...105m x 68m.

Away End near to Avenue Road?...

Home End near to the Wood?...

Consult with the Police & ask for their advice, before you re-orientate the LW design on your overlay.
