i think someone from the co-op needs to have a meeting with the council before monday and see where potential a ground could go.
Also was it possible for the council to do a compulsory purchase of liberty way like the government did with houses for the hs2 line

Re: Council statement
Views: 787
I’m not sure of situation regarding Hs2 but I do know a local authority cannot purchase a non listed building without agreement with the owner.
A local authority can compulsory purchase a listed building under sections 47 and 48 of the Listed Buildings Act. It seldom happens due to lack of funds.
People keep moaning about the Kingsholme pub but it cannot be cumpulsory purchased as it is not statutory protected by Listing.
That’s the law.
As for Liberty way - time to let it go.

Are the council going to spend these funds on a footbal club patronised by around 500 people?
And don’t section 106 monies have to be spent related to the development they come from?
I’ll have a look at the TCPA

No.
They are a mixture of a whole list of headings, that can be spent on the particular Development & on work in the locality of the Development & also elsewhere within the Borough of Nuneaton & Bedworth.

Yep and there is now planning permission to demolish Kingsholme.
At one stage police said there were community safety powers - as a fire risk hazard - to seize the building.
As for Liberty Way there were no calls to compulsorily purchase it when Nuns lost their ground so I can t see why it would be seen as any different now.

Re: Council statement
Views: 681
Think the council have powers under the Building Act 1984 S77-79 to issue a demolition order allowing the building to be made safe if it becomes unsafe and can recover costs.
Also section 216 notice TCPA could be used which you’ll know Gus.

Re: Council statement

I doubt a compulary purchase would be possible.
PERHAPS the mystery party have met with the council.
However, any meeting would be at the councils convenience and I dont think a football club would be high up their agenda.

Better than "I refer the learned gentleman to my previous answer" or "our aim is to halve inflation, reduce debt....."
They playing a straight bat.
the ACV is to give time for other bids if the designated use is to be changed. If the land is worth £400,000 then £400,000 would have to be found within 6 months (My understanding). If not found then "carry on" if found then either "its yours" or "okay, we will leave it as is"

It’s a terrible place for a ground and would face massive opposition from nearby residents.
The NPPF requires justification for the removal of the current community pitches and will need their replacement.
Access is poor and most supporters would pour out onto the bust Avenue rd.
The current traffic lights already jam Avenue rd up with tail jacks back to Coton Arches at times.

Problem - Where would be suitable?
Anyway - I just feel some ardent boro' supporters are now muscling in on things because they care about a (multi) failed football club.
In reality any development of any area has to consider local residents, the wider population requirement, finances, obligations, environmental issues and not the 2000 (sic) supporters who used to go to Liberty Way to watch a team that didn't pay its bills and went bust. The latter may be open to interpretation but perception (by casual on lookers) is important.
The only "hope" I see with any development such as Avenue Road, is the CIC could utilise facilities for the teams it currently run. That would help the people of Nuneaton.

And it is speculation.
If “informed” (via coop discussions) then that surely must come from coop. There was a reason the Bermuda meeting had not been announced till 5pm yesterday.
I have seen (particularly on Facebook) other “informed speculation”, which was laughable at the time and proved to be just that.
Whilst I have contact with many (including some on the coop board) all I know is that a meeting is taking place on Monday. I read this as an opportunity for supporters to be informed and to gauge ideas and support.

All that’s know officially is the coop meeting on Monday. I have no doubt they are busy as hell and want to try and do things properly, at the right time with as much facts as possible.
There was a post (only on here) about a meeting on Wednesday at the liberal club - but that’s all that’s know.
This Avenue Road thing started with an idea and escalated.

Yes, it will be very interesting to hear what the Co-op Board have to say in support of the undoubted hard work being put in by one of their Board members?
Edit:
What he has done is proved that a 5000-capacity Stadium could be built at the Gala Field, because there is the land area available for such a project.

We will find out shortly.
Anyone can visit NBBC's website & check the Planning Application once it has been submitted.
Checking on a regular basis will show what modifications have been made, arising out the Planning consultation process, as the information is updated & be able to read specialist reports submitted as supplementary information.
CoventryLive will publish an article informing of when the Planning Application was submitted, giving an application number, which is needed to access the project on the NBBC website.
There will be at least one public consultation on a project of this nature.
