He’s put out a message asking any of his connections are willing to invest in a football club. He said preferably wealth ones

If it’s what I have seen; it’s quite old. Certainly last year.

It was first posted near the end of December.
He's got a Danielle Wykes as a partner in the project, plus his friend who is some sort of football consultant/agent. Gary and Danielle have recent started a new company together (it's on Companies House).
There was another investor, but they backed out when talks over Liberty Way went south.

If they have no cash they are just new Hawkins types.
A 7 figure sum minimum will be required to resurrect the club and probably more with no ground.
Give em a chance to speak but imo they’re living on fantasy island if they think they can rebuild Boro with peanuts.
Wouldn’t surprise me either if the destroyer is involved somewhere.
See what they say next t week. Will be interesting anyway.

I reckon to buy a piece of land build a ground to a reasonable standard and get the club back to at least step 3
3 million and that's just to make us a Coalville type club .

Got to be - investors with no money or pea nuts wasting all our time. Alchemy doesn’t work.

No one connected with the club should be involved going forward. My opinion it needs a clean sweep from top to bottom

Re: New investor

This - the fact the meeting is being promoted by the club is concerning.
Dave sharpe however gives it some credibility though.
Not saying they good/bad but connection does not sit well.
Don’t forget - there seems nobody officially running the club for at least five weeks.

This forum is getting more and more ridiculous, people dont want anyone connected to the old regime involved in a new club but also questioning the motives and financial abilities of the prospective new owners, wait and see what they have to say

So you’re happy with the previous people to be connected to the ‘new club’ if it starts with how they ran it??? We know what they are going to say the same crap as everyone before

Re: New investor
Views: 541
It comes back to how you define "connected" - there was a lot of people who either worked for the club or ploughed money into the club that had little or no sway as to how the club was run.
These people are likely to be crucial to the new club no matter who forms it, so I'd say we need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Like I said I know of one person who tried his best to help
out but wasn’t listened to by anyone else who were there. He is the only one I’d trust going forward. We had people throwing money in and just letting one person get on with it, that doesn’t make good business sense. As I would like to know where my money was going. If these previous investors want to re invest it’s obviously upto them but it can not be ran as it was. It was basically winging it and see how it goes

Maybe it depends on who you don't know that were voluntarily involved in areas of the club. The ones that weren't actually in the crux of the end results, who only wanted the best for the club. Be careful what you wish for if you don't really know.

There are loads of unpaid volunteers at most clubs and they provide an invaluable service. But I cannot imagine for a moment that they have a say in budgetary matters. Like signing players on inflated salaries as one example. Or taking a decision to stop paying a leasehold agreement as another.

well put Davey.
and very true going on the few posts i have bothered to read.
s??t happens.

just stop and look at what ensued before JG was even thought of as the custodian
however do i blame JG ? of course i do

I think people more concerned about ONE person.
I think skepticism is understandable with regards to anyone who wants to own a football club (or DA capital) ; particularly one that does not exist.
Fact that NBFC was in effect JGFC says a lot.

Every day in JG head as he was the only director. I have it on very good authority he was in regular contact with the manager, who was very persuasive about signing players on good term. This put the owner in a terrible quandary.

I won’t go within a hundred miles of a new Boro with any vestige of JG involved period and that includes former sponsors who backed him.
I’m not convinced a new club is viable anyway - 3 collapses in 30 odd years should perhaps tell us something.
Good luck to those who want a phoenix club but Bors history proves it will be far from plain sailing.

Personally I believe those who supported and backed JG should have a good long think about what’s happened. There was one individual who posted on Boro chat a few weeks back that JG should continue as manager of a new club and should also be life president. All this support for someone who crashed the club through his own hubris and dictatorship.
Sad.

Let’s say who had a helping hand in running the club
If I was a sponsor I’d stay well clear. A lot have been burnt by what’s happened. Some have put a lot of money in and some had naming rights and boards around the pitch which aren’t cheap for it to all disappear. A lot of money down the drain for them unfortunately

Very true, but if they wanted to buy into the company, would you have an issue with it?
And before anyone else jumps on this, the question is totally hypothetical!

Most sponsors are business people in their own right, and would not want to have a shareholding or directorship of an insolvent company on their records - which pretty much meant non would touch Boro Leisure with a barge pole since 2018
